What’s nuts is you’re able to buy a compact, mid torque and full torque and 2 batteries for almost the same price as a single snap on.

@Nathan the sad part is what you describe happened to me with my ct761, my ct8550 and my Cdr761. My ct8550 lost power, my ct761 locked up and smoked and my cdr761 smoked out drilling a 1/4 hole in aluminum. Sent them all in as they smoked out. Traded them all in on hand tools and bought me a m12 set and m18 set. Had the snap on for a little over a year. I am now on my fourth with my Milwaukee stuff. Only issues I’ve had was I broke the pin on the ratchet, and the clutch because loose on my m12 drill after drilling 20 -4 1/4” holes on 1/2 aluminum tank sills. Since I’ve had the $20 dollar warranty on them at Home Depot I walked in with my old ones and walked out with new ones in less than 30 minutes. I wouldn’t buy snap on again I had $1,600 worth of batteries and tools and they left me having more than once 😂

The Ridgid from home Depot is a bad ass gun too, super strong, but the over amped motor won't last. But guess what? Ridgid will replace it, free. And pay for shipping. But I will stick to my snappy stuff, and not have to send it back, by the industry average failure time.

@Nathan must have gotten a shitty build then. I have just about every tool they make. My 3/8 and 1/2 I’ve had for about a year now. Being a diesel mechanic/ service guy at the same time. My tools have been dropped, hit, ran over once, in ran and all kinds of conditions. Works like I bought it yesterday. Never once gave it back to the tool guy to fix. Snap on has lost a lot of it touch in the tool world besides ratchets.

@@juanc5149 I need to get into this conversation. I think Makita and Milwaukee are the best for your money first thing. I tend to lean Milwaukee though, but really can't knock Makita if your into that brand either. First off, the video you shared is tightening power. Wish he would have reverse threads to show loosening power, because tightening isn't always needed at above 250ft-lbs. Loosening is more important. Also the way its designed within, loosening and tightening is not always designed the same within the tool, there are many little secrets to make the tool more powerful in loosening than tightening. Finally I'll say this, these both perform pretty dang close in the tightening shown and are the top tools, back to my first comment. Yet, an HO battery was not used on the Milwaukee, and I'd put money on it, that a 6ah HO would change the outcome. Not sure if Makita has an HO equivalent, but, I believe not.

Upgraded from an older 18v kit. kzbin.infoUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

It’s because you can just tell your Snap-on guy to put it on their account and he’ll show up weekly to collect his payment. Most mechanics are on the hook for thousands of 💵 for their overpriced tool boxes. Mechanics have been brand brainwashed by them for years but many are switching to Milwaukee.

It's cause you can buy the snap-on on a payment plan, and you also have the truck coming to the shop weekly to take care of any issues, and also the snap on guy will usually help you out when you get into a bind. The Milwaukee is better I would say but you don't get a dealer who bends over backwards for you when you buy milwaukee.

I think it depends on the product, for power tools I don’t touch snap on, matter of fact I actually go with matco (and would love to see a head to head of that) however if you look at some of the rounded head technology for example snap on out performs the other brands. You just gotta research and see what’s better. For the ratchets I also personally prefer snap on, and I’ve had a chance to use mac matco and snap on for all 3 however that’s a personal preference, all 3 are good.

Milwaukee fan boys are like a cult. And now that 2767 has been skidmore tested. It turned out I was right along. It’s got maybe 10 to 70 more ft lbs then the Makita or dcf899. And that can be explained by battery type used on the other brands. A DCF899 with a 9 ah FlexVolt is more powerful than a 2767 with regular xc battery. The reason is because people just believe stated specs on the box. See the 2767 barely reaches its claimed fastening torque of 1000. Where as the other two brands exceed their fastening torque of 700 or 750 ft lbs by a few hundred ft lbs. putting them all much closer. Ingersoll Rand is way more powerful and it’s only a matter of time where I’ll be able to post concrete proof of this.

I am an auto mechanic and have an m12 stubby 3/8” impact that is strong enough for almost anything. If it can’t get it off, it is probably an application for the 1/2” m18. With my m12 I can remove and also install engine manifolds, pulleys, brackets and small suspension stuff. These high power 3/8 tools might not be so great for the smaller stuff. That is why they need an adapter for the tests. Just get a 1/2” wrench for the big stuff.

What I've noticed is the 1/2 Milwaukee impacts lose a decent amount of power when used regularly. They don't have the beefy hammers inside that the snap on does. However 18v Milwaukee has always been ahead on power. (When new at least). The 14.4 line is a pretty solid line though. I chose the 14.4 line for work over the m12 options. 18v though have always bought Milwaukee. I've also noticed the battery play and flexing of the tool with the Milwaukee but hey 5 year warranty and 1/2 price of snap on on so hard to complain really.

I love my milwaukee stubby impact. But I do think that adapster makes a difference even though its welded in. I can feel the difference when going from a chrome sockets to a impact socket. Impact socket vibrates less and will take off tighter bolts/nuts. Also.holding the impact with more force against the nut/bolt also makes it vibrate less and takes off bolts easier too. So if that welding extension is makes that socket vibrate more it deffinently will cause the readings to change.

I agree, if you’re doing a comparison then you need to account for all variables. An adapter (regardless if it’s welded) is a variable. He shoulda just used the same socket. I don’t care much for Snap On impacts, but at least make the comparison fair.
@Shoptoolreviews

The Snap-On is only available with a 3/8" anvil, and you can't find a 3/8" x 33mm socket. We can't use smaller fasteners because they won't hold up to this amount of power. Therefore, we welded a 3/8" to 1/2" adapter to a 33mm socket. The Snap-On is getting it's but kicked by a 2-year-old 12-volt Milwaukee that is less than half the price. It's not even close. I love snap-on 14.4 ratchets and the ct761. But the 18v stuff just leaves alot to be desired. My go to impacts are the m12 stubby and the ct761. Two areas id like Milwaukee to improve in are battery fit / durability and warranty. I know people who sent off impacts to be repaired only to be sent back in a million pieces stating moisture caused the failure and that would not be covered. Snap-on flat rate repair is actually a great setup. If your tool is outta warranty you send it in and for 125 they repair or replace the tool. I'd like to see Milwaukee do something like that.

If Milwaukee had a flat rate repair system itd be alot better is all I'm saying...I even stated in my original reply that snap-on 18volt line just isnt cutting it and I have Milwaukee impacts,drills,etc.. but if you brag on your 5 year warranty back it up.

I recommend snap on hand tools , milwaukee M12, Makita 18V if you can handle the battery cost. Long time using milwaukee, I realized it is only about the power. makita has enough power, light weight and better tool quality especially the way battery is fitted. However compact M12 is the number one top dog for automotive.

I traded it in after about a year and a half, and bought a Milwaukee 2962 1/2 inch on clearance and im very happy with it. It's better in every way and now I can free up more space since I only have milwaukee power tools and chargers now. I also don't have an issue with the battery staying in the impact like on the snapon. Id have to smack the battery on because it would fall out just enough to shut off the impact. Very annoying and I hate the battery latch design.

I own 4 Milwaukee impacts both m12 and m18 dropped them in everything you can imagine an off haul trucks and D11s too many times to count an I've yet watched them catch on fire while running them which is what my past two 1/2" drive Snap-Ons did. The Snap-Ons worked alright not nearly as strong as the Milwaukees but once you get them covered in oil (an if you're a heavy equipment mechanic its gonna happen) they won't last very much longer. The Snappys did great in just dirt but a little oil in the vents and a couple long anvil hits and then smoke, pop, fire and then you got yourself a nice paper weight. You don't know how much you miss your cordless impacts until your waiting on another one...........

I grew up in the family business hanging off heavy equipment in the Phosphate mines (Central FL). Albeit, we were mainly replacing glass, but we were in the mix with mechanics and service personnel on dozers, loaders, draglines, cranes. Oil, dust, silt, mud, water...you name it, your tools and machines get exposed to it. Thanks for the input and thanks for watching.

I love Snap-on hand tools; nothing are better than them in the industry . I've been using them for 27 yrs now. But the electric guns and ratchets are horrible garbage worthless tools from them. They spend more time in the rapir shop being repaired ratchet 3/8 and impact 3/8 .I had mine replace 3 times as they couldn't fix the ones I had they lost power after 3 months, and the other guys have the same issues with them doing the same things. Even the new replacement ones we all get this are used in regular automotive repair use. They can't remove valve cover bolts that are 25in pounds tight , for example.after 3 months of use. I rebuild engines and transmission 3 to 8 each a week and just got the Milwaukee 3/8 600 ft lbs 18m impact and going to try it. Other techs have Milwaukee, and not 1 had been sent in for repair after 1 yo 2 years of use .The warranty is way better than Snap-on. They have a 1yr on battery and tool and then $127 to repair them after the warranty ends Snap-on tools . Then it lasts 1 month the end of the warranty ends for that 127$ not worth it as the tool dies and gets week not even 2 months after.. Milwaukee has a 5 tool 3 or 2 battery. The other 40 guys in my shop got Milwaukee more than half, and the rest of our older guys got Snap-on, and we all regret it bad . As we are all done buying Snap-on electric tools now they suck, Snap-on are way expensive for a Chinese tool that can't handle our industry good for a guy who doesn't do this professionally. Don't waist your time and money on Snap-on get Milwaukee. As they say in our business time is money. Tools down loss of money.

The only real complaint I hear about the Milwaukee versus Snap On and DeWalt from people who use them daily is the batteries. M18 batteries tend to be loose and can vibrate off the tool. M12 the tabs break. I agree, the M12 tabs suck, but the tools are great. Haven’t yet had any issues with my M18’s. They definitely bring the power. Was a little disappointed to see the Snap On underperform the Milwaukee by that much. Snap On does tend to understate their torque, and in other tools, performs closer to comparable Milwaukee’s. Not this time.

I just picked up the new large rover light that takes the 12v batteries and has the usb charge port as well as a strong magnet on the back to attach to hoods and things like that. It’s awesome. When I saw that Snap-on came out with a new 3/8 gun I knew that it was going to be a disappointment. It seems as if their main focus is build quality and robust internals. I could care less about that when I have to go back to the truck and get a bigger impact. Back when I was running all snap-on cordless tools I would end up with two or three of the same tool because I couldn't wait a month-and-a-half for the repair. My dealer didn't always have a loaner available so I'd buy another one. I'm not 100% Milwaukee yet because I still love Snap On's 14.4V ratchets. I have probably sent in 1/3 of my Milwaukee stuff for warranty repair but I get it back so fast that no hardship is experienced. Admittedly, a couple of the warranty repairs were due to abuse...unbalanced cookie wheel in a die grinder, jammed anvil on my 1/2 impact etc. I still question Milwaukee's quality, especially when I've sent at least three tools in for bad trigger switches within the first few months of use. I'm using these tools on heavy equipment so it can be said that they were not intended for such HD use. Sometimes when I think about the Snap On vs. Milwaukee it feels like Apple versus Android... Snap On being Apple. Is it fair to say that Snap On gives you what THEY think you need and Milwaukee gives you what you want? What I can say is that I work for a company that has hundreds of mechanics. Almost every one of them that I know has totally converted to Milwaukee or is in the process. I don't know anybody who is running other brands and I believe it's mainly due to tool trucks not selling them, lack of hype and wanting to be on a battery platform that runs tons of tools. I can be accused of being a Snap On fanboy but I have had no choice but to mostly abandon their cordless tools.

Thanks a lot for the feedback and input. This is pretty telling, and something that Snap-On should recognize. There's nothing wrong with charging a premium, but you have to be able to educate the consumer on why they're paying a premium. If there is no reason, you can't expect your premium-priced products to keep selling. Btw, I love the Snap-On 14.4 impacts with the rocker (fwd/rev) trigger. I wish that milwaukee would adapt this. Really, lug nuts, strut mounting bolts, and a lca/subframe bolt rattles were the worst it would see. Might be a little over used but my brushed 3/8 did the same amount of work and never shattered an anvil. After having the waukees for two weeks Im nothing but happy! I bought the mid torque 3/8 18v and the M12 stubby 3/8 and I love them! The M18 is way more powerful than the snap on hand down, I would say the M12 with a 4.0 batter or bigger even goes toe to toe with the 9010! Never looking back again!

good review but you gotta use the comparable spec tool. This is the 2nd gen Milwaukee that is way more powerful than their 1st gen that the Snap on is comparing too. Just a heads up.

This is the newest Mid-Torque Snap-On impact wrench they have. In fact, we ordered it before you could even get them on the truck. Yes, we compared it against the new 2nd Gen Milwaukee as well: new vs. new. Regardless, the Snap-On still loses. Snap-On makes great hand tools, but their power tools need a lot of help. They need to realize they can't charge premium prices for tools that don't perform in the same arena. Thanks for watching.

The only complaint I have with Milwaukee is that the battery connection gets loose in the gun with a lot of use

I'd rather pay a Chevy price than a Cadillac price, just for the name. Many Chevy's outperformed Caddy's. I've been very impressed with Milwaukee 12 and 18 volt tools, great value for the price. I've also used Milwaukee warranty service and had prompt service. I did see the Milwaukee rep. at H.D. and he sent in the data and produced a shipping label. The second time I did it myself and it went just as well. I won't pay for Snap On name and haven't since 1986, there are many other options with same warranty or better, some are even superior at a much lower price. Thanks for this comparison and video 👍👍👍👍

@@Shoptoolreviews thank you for your real reviews. In Kona Hawaii I have a personal relationship with the Home Depot Milwaukee rep. Tim, he's always alerted me to upcoming sales and always helped with warranty repairs. Tim is an asset to the line employees of the Milwaukee line, this guy is straight up👍👍👍👍👍

My buddy has a snap on 3/8 impact and idk why but whenever it’s hitting to break a nut or bolt it feels super uncomfortable. My Milwaukee 3/8 impact which is the same as the one in this video is so much smoother

I'm not sure how they are selling these Snap-on impacts, especially at the price. Thanks for watching.
