The sadness, guilt and remorse is apparent in Hunter's eyes when he talks about the harrowing effect of his first deer shooting. The pain and the struggle of the poor animal trying to get up again and follow his family... How on earth it doesn't affect other hunters the same way is incomprehensible. It is utterly heartbreaking what humans do to animals. It brings hope that Hunter has turned his cultural upbringing on its head. Thankful for the work you both do for the animals ♥️🙏

I also grew up in a hunting and fishing family. I grew up in a fur obsessed family. I have pictures of myself wearing my fur coats, as a kid, teenager, adult. It was our thing, the women in my family. I went through vet tech school and have a degree in veterinary nursing. All the things you see being done to animals in videos, I've done it. I'd be happy to come on as a guest and talk about it. There's a HUGE problem of cognitive dissonance in the veterinary industry. So many of these people are hunters.

I absolutely love this interview! At least in the US, this touches on the majority of the stigmatism against veganism that i see. I grew up with and am around American hunters (and advocates of it) my whole life. Hunter Tobey is a great (and graceful) guest with a perfect example of what it’s like being vegan in rural America. Thank you David for having him on and thank you Hunter Tobey for sharing your story 🙏

Thank you Hunter for being a REAL man and seeing the light. This whole idea of being deliberately cruel to animals to not be seen as weak is just total BRAINWASHING by all the industries that make money off exploiting and killing them.

Thank you so much for this enormously inspirational video ! Hunter Tobey, you are such an asset to the vegan community, like you, I am also from Michigan surrounded by the hunting culture and know no other vegans. Everyday I speak up for the animals, remaining silent does nothing to help the animals, if we don't speak up, who will ? Hunter you are a bright shining light and the epitome of what a human male should be.I sincerely hope that young males in particular will follow your example and make the world a better place for humans and our distant cousins in fur and feathers ! If one is against abusing animals one must be vegan ! No excuses !

Hunter is a beautiful soul and an inspiration , especially considering what he had to overcome: his strong conditioning, prejudice, and social pressure to follow his conscience. His first reaction to killing was compassionate and human, and showed his good heart. Then the social pressure led him to repeat the evil, and his heart got hardened. But his natural goodness and his open, challenging mind helped him to transform into the wonderful person and committed fighter for kindness that he is now. lots of gratitude and love to both of you and thank you David for this important interview !

Regarding chickens, brain size is not related to intelligence. The brain does not generate consciousness. The brain is the recipient of consciousness. It's merely an organ that is a link between consciousness and the physical world. Rupert Sheldrake, the scientist, has spent much of his life researching this subject, and has written books on it. Essential reading.

I used to bow hunt and I still feel like rifle hunting is cheating in comparison. I could only shoot from 40 yards away max, and had to get a very clean shot (still not instant death though). I also relate to the social aspect, especially because I’m a girl and lots of guys think girls are lame or weak but if you mention that you hunt they suddenly respect you and think you’re cool. Eventually I grew out of it and decided that respecting animals was more important than getting conditional respect from a bunch of white boys lol

Regarding the size of a chicken's brain- just ponder the size of a crow's brain. They are also small, and are deemed to be highly intelligent. Im fact,I think they are always in the top five or ten most intelligent animals (as judged by humans, of course).

When hunters talk about not subjugating animals to factory fHarming, I always wonder if they don't eat any cheese or other dairy and egg products? If they never eat at a restaurant? If they make all their leather items themselves? Or if they actually still support factory fHarming by buying stuff... despite their allegedly "ethical" hunting lifestyle.
