"ONE MORE TIME!" Michael screams. He has done so over four hundred times now. It has been 16 hours. Some of the dancers have died. The crowd cries for release, but Michael will not give it to them. He Is The Lord of the Dance, this is his kingdom, and no one leaves his kingdom.

I've heard about the guy being arrogant over and over through the years. Since I don't personally know the man, I couldn't tell whether that's true or not. But if it is...I must say, that arrogance did him worlds of good on stage. Because, apart from being a fantastic dancer - which undoubtedly he is, but so are many others - the thing to distinguish him more than anything, his allure, was exactly that : his imposing stage presence, head always up high, eyes shining with pride and the "I'm The King and The Lord" atitude. Everything else, even his technique and stamina, somebody else might come to reach one day. The new guy is pretty good, actually. Not Flately good, but good. However, I'm having a hard time imagining somebody will ever equal his atitude, and the way he knew how to sell it, lol. For me, he's a giant in his line of work, regardless of whhat he may be like in his real life. I always make sure to never enter in the kitchen of my favourite restaurant, you know.
@mihaelapestritu42593 жыл бұрын
@@CB394 That is exactly what I called it, "imposing stage presence". I have no knowledge of his "arrogance", nor lack of it, for that matter. He's not somebody I personally know, so I wouldn't dream of passing judgement on anyone, based on media rants. As for the article posted above in these comments, I went through it quickly, and I must say, the so called "arrogance" sounds to me more like finally an artist knew what he wants done, how to get it done, and what it's worth. So instead of letting himself milked dry by the big sharks, he decided to do it himself, for himself, his dancers and his public. Bet that stepped on more than a few toes, eh? Let's face it, a big league manager boasting about "buying him a 10000 $ pair of shoes" is...cringy, at best. I can't imagine it was a birthday present, but rather an investment. The guy knew well that those 10.000 $ shoes on THOSE feet, would come back to him as millions, later. Who is he kidding?

As a former dancer in multiple disciplines, I can vouch that when the crowd amps up, it doesn't matter if your routine was 10 minutes or 4 hours. You may be tired and sore, but it all falls away as your own love for your craft mingles with the audience's ovation and the joy you brought them. Yes, this troop did a piece of the finale 3 extra times. And I guarantee you its a moment all of them carry with reverence and a smile to this day. Because when the show run is over, these are the moments you look back on and think "wow, can't believe I was part of something like that!"
@abliaaneksi32614 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I thought. He seems exhausted as all the dancers must be, but when you see the crowd like that, all up with a big ovation, when you finally see where all this hard work have brought you and how people enjoy it so much, you can't just say "thanks, bye!", you have to do it again. Over and over. Live this perfect moment as much as you can.

She would take me to concerts, musicals, plays, etc. Everytime, I would dread going but afterwards, I would come out absolutely amazed by what I just saw. This was one of those shows. After I saw this performance, I was speechless. It is still to this day the most powerful, beautiful, amazing show I have ever seen. Especially this finale part. The music alone was so powerful that it gets everyone out of their seats cheering for just one more dance. Now that I'm older, I am so grateful for my mom taking me to see all these amazing performances. This "Michael Flatley - Lord of the dance finale" was an excellent segment of Michael at his top. I was quite fascinated at his ability to do those high, strutting steps. They were amazing steps powered by a strong ego and incredible dancing ability. Thank you, David Roth, for posting this.

I finally learned the term was really "designated driver." But as a teetotaler, the first term was applicable even if wrong.

+John Aberle Don't forget, as well as a strong ego, above all, Flatley had immense passion for what he was doing. that was clearly evident on his face. He had that shit eating grin, from ear to ear. So it was a really good show, just not awesome. We still enjoyed it despite the minor let down.

Its nice to see how many people envy Michael Flatley for his personal success. All this people should know that he was the person that creates Riverdance 1994 as intermediate show during the Eurovision Song Contest. Without him nobody of this talented tap dancers (worldchampions) would have work since over 20 years. It was Michael Flatley that bring Irish tap in the world, so modern and powerful to fill worldtours, city halls and stadiums. Lord of the Dance is his personal show that he creates after left Riverdance. After heart problems he comes 2011 back on stage because milliones of fans wants to see the only and unique "Lord" of Dance. On this show 1996 in Dublin was Michael Flatley around 40 years old. I would like to see the people that critism him if they can dance like him. Last details, he is still record holder with 35 steps per second ;-).

How anyone can give this a dislike is beyond me. I loved this when it came out and I still love it as much. Wish I could dance like that, but maybe that's because of my Irish blood, as my grandmother was Irish. Nan would have loved this. Bloody fantastic and never ceases to mesmerise me!

Back in the day, I saw Riverdance and Michael Flatley in Chicago, twice. I will never forget it and it was so wonderful to come across this video, and I had both of my dogs laying with me on the couch when I first viewed this video, but I started clapping and tapping and moving around and they have both left me now, (kind of in protest like what are you doing human? And they are both staring at me now wondering if it’s OK to come back. We were so comfortable all three of us on the couch ) but I am left (now alone) with the joy that I felt back in the day when I first saw River Dance and had the pleasure to see it performed and led by Michael Flatley ☘️ come back to mama my puppies :-)
