“Kneel, traitor”. I love the parallel between Robb and Ned in this chapter. Robb tries so much to echo his father’s honour and sense of duty, but he is more emotionally impulsive. This can also been seen with the marriage to Jayne. By contrast, Ned was cold and distant. To be fair to him though, Robb is about 17 years old...

It's always confused me how Jeyne knows enough about medicine to tend to Robb herself, but not enough to know that her mother isn't helping her, she's trying to prevent her from having children. Wouldn't she know the herbs?

So many people in this series desperately want the power and privilege but Robb (and even Stannis) are one of the few people who understand the massive responsibility behind. it. Poor Robb is put under so much pressure that he couldn’t enjoy his power. Meanwhile psycho Joffrey is wreaking havoc with his spoils while everyone else is doing the real ruling.

No he lost it when he didn't tell Edmure his plans to attack Tywin. With Tywin not falling into Robbs plans it set off a chain reaction that culminates in their downfall. All Robb had to do was simply tell Edmure his plan. Hey let Twyins host past uninterrupted. Instead all he says is to hold riverrun. How vague and useless a command is that during a war and with the enemy passing through your land. Stannis would've taken Kings Landing, Robb routing Tywin and his army or drove them back to casterly rock at the least. Who knows how it would've turned but he lost it there.

Rickard Karstark was 100% right with the stuff he was saying how is it treason to kill prisoners and not treason to release the king slayer? Rob should’ve held his mother accountable because she was just as much of a traitor. He should’ve kept Rickard Karstark as a prisoner like his uncle said or forced him to take the black. But bad decision after bad decision between Rob and his mother lead to their fates

I'm inclined to agree. However given their current position, idk how they could have transported them to the wall without someone capturing or freeing them along the way. Still, the question should have been raised. Robb would still have probably executed him, since Karstark provoked him by mocking his mercy in front of everyone.

I just realized something that may or may not have been intentional by George. In the last chapter, Tywin states that Robb is his father's son but, in this chapter he leisurely goes against his father's advice of the "man passing the sentence must swing the sword." He does ultimately behead Lord Karstark but, he opts to have the other men be hung by Umber instead of doing it himself. In my eyes, this shows that he is not fully his father's son, instead being a blend of both Catelyn and Ned. Him marrying Jeyne Poole despite his marriage vows for love is a directly opposite of Ned honoring his vows to the Tullys instead of marrying Ashara Dayne for love. Robb marrying Jeyne instead is more similar to Catelyn's choosing love over duty when she released Jamie for the hope of Sansa and Arya, despite it being a grevious crime.

Robb lost at politics, it's so sad. Robb did not have anyone who was politically adept with him, he has Catelyn and the Blackfish neither of which are good politicians. If Hoster Tully was able bodied, Robb would have won this war simply because he was more politically astute.

Renly was the best of all 5 kings,he was a diplomat which he proved with that alliance with Tyrell and he was a good Lord. All of his vassals supported him and not his brother.
