From George RR Martin's "A Storm of Swords."
If you like what you're hearing, be sure to check out my channel, where you can find all of my A Song of Ice and Fire recorded chapters in order in playlists! And leave a comment! I don't care about any youtube algorithm reach nonsense but I love hearing from people who are listening!
I am in no sense a professional reader, voice actor, or what have you. I began this audiobook project some years ago when some friends of mine jokingly said they'd read A Song of Ice and Fire (my favorite fantasy series) if I personally recorded the whole series in audiobook form and sent it to them. Having now made my way almost through the first two books in the series, I decided to join the small community of people who post their own amateur audibook readings to youtube, and share my efforts.
I have no intention of profiting off of the work that is copyrighted to George RR Martin. This upload is a tribute to a series I deeply love, and I strongly encourage you to purchase these books. You won't regret it.
Also I should give full credit to my cat, Claudio, for the frequent background meows and purring sounds you hear throughout.

It’s about politics. What was done to Tysha, though barbaric, has a purpose. It drove home a point to Tyrion that he’d never forget. There was no point in harming Elia, Tywin admits as much in this chapter

@@jj947 and what happened to elia had a purpose. It drove home a point that the martells have never forgotten. Both messed up things And i absolutely am willing to believe tywin gave the order and/or knew the kind of men he sent to handle the situation. And not only that, i think all the evidence suggests as such and youre a fool to think otherwise. Youve been gaslighted and it worked like a charm! This is an obvious example of Tywin virtue signaling.

Tywin was anything but wise, unfortunately for him. Sure, he was a genius, don't get me wrong, but in his desire to strengthen his house, he bent the laws and limits of a system he thought exploitable (the feudal system of honor) and this came back to him. It is any wonder that all his children grew up messed up? With a father that taught them of how superior and worthy of all they are, by mere blood and name? Pride is a slow and insidious killer after all, and his house collapse it's the greatest example of how unwise Tywin truly turned to be...

10:03 In Feast Cersei would state at one point that Robert was fool for sparing the ironborn after Greyjoy rebbelion ("he had them on their knees and let them up again!") thinking that lord Tywin would make another island of their sculls.... Robert was a fool in letting the Greyjoys keep the paramouncy. A Tywin like approach would have probably been the removal of Baelon from power, the removal of the paramouncy from the Greyjoys, the installation of a new lord paramount, out of a more malleable family, plus making Theon head of the house, while growing him a closely watched hostage. In the end, only genocide would ever bend the Ironborn to ways outside of war, unfortunately. They are deluded idiots most often then not.

They would have died anyway. You win or you die. But bear in mind that ser Jaime was only kingsguard left in capital to defend king Aerys and remnants of royal family. Up to that point no Lannister had fought against the rebels and upon his death there would be blood between the victorious rebel lords ( Baratheon, Stark, Arryn, Tully and even Greyjoy ) and house Lannister. Tywin had zero choice and as he said "Ellia was not supposed to be harmed".

It's so interesting that if Daenerys dies, then Stannis would be the rightful heir to the Iron Throne. Because, Aerys' line would end and so would Jaehaerys', then the Throne would pass to Aegon V's daughter's ancestors, that would be Steffon Baratheon's sons, Robert is dead without a legitimate child so thus it's his brother.

Among Robert's bastards, I think Edric Storm would have the best claim. First of all, his mother is also High born Second, Robert publicly acknowledged him because of the first reason. And thirdly, he was raised in a castle as a lordling whereas all the other bastards of Robert live humble lowborn lives. Of course a bastard inheriting would be a desperate last resort anyone so it's not very likely, but it's something I like to think might have happened in an alternate timeline. Sorry the reply on an old comment I just recently found this channel.
