Carney policies would be "disastrous" for Canada. "I strongly recommend not backing Mark Carney for his policies on net zero. It was disastrous for Britain. It would be disastrous for Canada." These are the words of former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss who was interviewed by The Counter Signal near President Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday in Washington D.C. Carney, who has branded himself a political outsider, is running for the Liberal Party of Canada leadership following the resignation of Justin Trudeau. Pundits say Carney's policies would be no different from Trudeau. "Well, Mark Carney was Governor of the Bank of England, and under his tenure, too much money was printed, which did damage to the British economy and put our economy off track," said Truss. "He, at the last election, endorsed Rachel Reed's economic policy. She's now become chancellor. It's been a disaster for Britain. The country is heading for bankruptcy, so I would strongly recommend not backing Mark Carney or his policies on net zero, which have been disastrous for Britain, will be disastrous for Canada." www.westernstandard.news/watch/watch-carney-policies-would-be-disastrous-for-canada-former-uk-prime-minister/61367

Go Mr Carney’s, finally someone we can get behind with his extensive experience in global finance and economic leadership highlights his pragmatic, evidence-based approach, focusing on substance and long-term solutions. Unlike the others with their populist rhetoric and lacking real-world experience and detailed policy solutions.

In 1985 I had a tough question in economics, I forget what, and I was running an economics "echo," on the olde tyme Fido net, so I wrote in (a typed letter, with a stamp on the outside. Remember them?) to the Bank of Canada. I got a thoughtful one and a half page reply back from some junior named Carney, intelligent and sensible enough that the name stuck with me. Forty years ago. On the other hand I first started reading Chrystia Freeland when she was at University of Pennsylvania, and was struck with the thought "Boy, it would be good if she came back to Canada and went into politics.) Embarrassment of riches: either one of them would be fine. Poor PP simply pales into comparison with either, just one more bloody Tory whiner. Like didn't the poor damn Conservatives used to have a political party lying around somewhere?

Now that he announced his candidacy, we shall start seeing Pierre’s full smugness in display. There’s was an online debate between the two of them during the pandemic where P thought he was cute and not let Carney as the witness to even respond to his questions. If you think P is different and actually knows what he’s doing, well, he’s been in politics for 20 years and accomplished what?
@Oo272547 күн бұрын
You do realize that MPs are only given a short amount of time to question and receive answers? Pierre was asking straight forward yes or no questions, and Carney, as Liberals tend to do, continually proceeded to talk in circles to purposely runout the clock.
@vcr12326 күн бұрын
@ then ask simplistic questions like is 1 + 1 = 2, yes or no? Maybe then you’ll have enough time for questions. In a question and answer environment, more time should be given to the person being asked, same as when you’re in a job interview. Then make your conclusions after, or if he really talked in circles then say that in the end.

I have been following Mr Carney in the news ever since then. His macro economics point of view (which includes the environmental stance) combined with the experience he has as governor of the Bank of Canada and of the Bank of England, makes him the perfect candidate not only to advice the Prime Minister but eventually to run for Prime Minister himself. Just now now . With the disenchantment of many Canadians about the Liberal Party, the moment is not propitious for Mr. Carney to run for number one. As a Political Scientist I would advice for Mr. Carney to participate as advisor but not to run for the Liberal leadership until the next general elections. All the best to him, anyway.

>During the Second World War, there were roughly 840,000 aircraft built by all combatants. Of that total, the US manufactured 340,000 aircraft of all types. There is no way that such an astonishing achievement could be realized today. Manufacturing is now less than 18% of the total economy. The bulk of the economy is in the social services sector and the financial sector. >The proponents of tariffs are painting a bullseye on the wrong target. So, we might ask, what is the right target? Productivity per person is too low and this causes the ratio between debt and GDP to rise leading to more money being pumped into the system as debt. This in turn is the real source of inflation which really should be termed as devaluation of the dollar. This started when the then President Nixon severed (in August 1971) the link between gold and the dollar. Since then, the overall debt has climbed faster than the output of the economy. A dollar today is worth about three cents compared with a US dollar in 1971, a factor of thirty. Clearly, we trying to buy anything with a devalued dollar, so, it takes more of these devalued dollars to buy something, anything. >So, there are two routes to a healthy economy, one is to increase productivity to lower the ratio between debt and GDP while the other is to cut spending to achieve the same objective. The government now thinks that tariffs will accomplish correction. The real challenge will be to trim spending while at the same time increasing productivity. That will not be accomplished in four years; more likely, it will take forty years. It took forty years to create the problem in the first place. How anyone can expect to correct this in four years is not reasonable.

The year is almost over and very glad about the decisions I have made so far. Investing in the market earlier this year regardless of the market conditions has saved my life. Mr. Carney declares in Europe that he is European and in Canada a Canadian but he's still clinging to an outdated WEF notion that a carbon tax will fix everything. Just ask England's PM what she thinks of him. She views him as the single reason England is doing so poorly econmically. Get lost Mark, go back to Europe.
