Investing in the security and well-being of nations like Ukraine and Israel, and extending support to the Iranian people like smart sanctions on Oil exports of Islamic Republic but letting Iranians make money online through services, is crucial because our populations share a common wealth of talents, technologies, and values that foster economic growth, human rights, and fundamental freedoms. This understanding is lost on extremist ideologies like fascism, Marxism, and jihadism, which often rely on zero-sum thinking. For evidence, consider the arguments presented in 'Enlightenment Now' by Steven Pinker. Those who disagree are invited to engage in a constructive debate at Atheist Republic, where we can explore the merits of liberal values and the flaws in authoritarian models. Embracing liberalism allows for mutually beneficial outcomes, whereas extremist ideologies often require someone to lose in order for them to gain.

The answer is, no he's not a politician. He was brought in by Trudeau to be a financial advisor for the party (which then started with some rather blatant vote-buying gimmicks that contributed to the party's downfall, there's going to be some awkward questions over his involvement there). He's never been elected and he's not currently a sitting MP, which will likely be a sticking point for Canadians. But you don't have to technically be one to run for leader of a political party, and so if he wins the leadership race, he will automatically become PM - for about 5 minutes before a non confidence motion brings the government down.

Mark Carney is why Canadians have the highest debt ratio on the planet. Canadian big banks have operated on a zero reserve ratio basis since the mid-90s. Under the current monetary creation policy, it is mathematically impossible for the average person to do better over time. The issue is current MMT implementation. We need to understand how inflation, monetary creation policy and taxation functionally work - not how grifters at the top tell us how it theoretically works. Federal gov't debt is NOT like household debt. Taxes do NOT have to pay for any federal programs. Taxes are primarily a hedge against inflation. But this only works when the uber wealthy are taxed heavily, not the bottom 99%. We've basically been using a form of MMT (Modern Monetary Theory) for the last 40 years. Unfortunately, money created has been handed to those at the very top and their corporations. All we need to do is shift the MMT injections to those at the bottom, then, not only does the bottom do better, but the entire economy would be recession proof. Most people - including politicians - have no idea how an economy actually works. Here's a quick economics low down. Gov't injects new money it creates into the economy (although private banks create 20+ times as much, but that's a separate issue), if that money created goes to those who need it most, the economy does well. Govt debt and higher taxes are only bad when the money generated leaves the economy - like when it is used to reduce the tax burden for out of province/country corporations or high income earners - because they remove money from the economy (aka currency leakage). If all taxation went support to citizens at the bottom, and their small/local businesses - and the infrastructure that supports them - then that debt, injected it into the local economy, would be returned many times over as it would be respent into the economy over and over (aka multiplier effect). The govt eventual recovers this money into govt coffers by tax extracted from that respending. Working citizens with an extra $100 in their pockets are very likely to spend that money locally, let's say at a mom and pop restaurant. That restaurant owner then buys supplies and pays staff. If each staff then gets an extra $100 in their pockets, they will likely spend that money back into the economy as well (multiplier effect). When money is injected to people likely to spend it (aka propensity to consume), the govt will get all that money back eventually. This lifts all boats over time. Sadly, politicians refuse to understand how economies work. They repeat the same failed policies that funnel wealth upwards and out of local economies by giving wealth to foreign corporations and the already wealthy - who take it out of the economy through currency leakage, along with its multiplier effect. This sinks all boats over time. Local economies would be self-sufficient and recession-proof if all money was kept local - in the hands of those who need it most. This video briefly explains how economies functionally work - dispelling the trickle down myths that've been drilled into us for decades.

If it requires the labor of someone else to provide, it literally cannot be a right. Doing so would imply forced coercion of the provider to provide the so-called "right".
@wantonaltruist6 сағат бұрын
@@hbray86 if that's the calculus by which you disqualify a human right (someone else being "compelled" to provide labour), then that basically eliminates right to education, right to a fair trial, right to vote, right to clean drinking water... and so on. it's a shame the U.N. didn't consult you when they drafted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
@hbray866 сағат бұрын
@@wantonaltruist bingo on education and clean drinking water. The right to vote and right to a fair trial is part of participating in a lawfully governed democratic society and a function of the social contract. But to be provided services by the government at the expense of others simply by existing is not sustainable or based in reality. If there are any prerequisites for obtaining said services, like being a citizen for example, then it’s not a right. Rights cannot be granted or provided by the government. Rights are in fact limitations placed on the government by the governed. So instead of calling healthcare a “human right” as if not providing it would be taking away something from someone, just say “I think healthcare should be provided by taxpayers”.
