I always use base cleaner and try to get as much of the old extra wax off first before I start applying the wax. Doing this helps the wax stick more and you will notice that u won’t have to wax your board as often. Just a helpful tip. Great vid!
@mainelygames176 жыл бұрын
All imma say fam is that iron shouldnt be smoking. Bring temp down to where the wax melts not too fast but not too slow. Also binding loosening is a good idea but not a big deal if you dont leave the iron directly on where the inserts are for too long. (This knowledge comes from experience and many snowboarding seasons)

You have to buy file/stone guides to maintain a consistent angle on the edge. There is no shortcut of doing it freehand, because it's impossible to maintain a half-degree of accuracy without a guide. If you see someone filing a board freehand: they don't know what they're doing or they're only trying to knock down a large ding on the edge from hitting a rock. What a lot of people do is wait 10+ snow-days to do their edges in a shop and then wax every 3-4 days DIY.

Growing up my father used to wax our cross country skies. He used to save the scrapings to use them over and over. Do you know if there is any reason not to save the scrapings? I'm just curious. I know you showed how to save wax by heating and rubbing the wax on the board, but if you save your scrapings, lay them out on your board, and than heat them up with the iron, wouldn't that do the same thing? I used to do this this way for yrs. I think he bought that lock of wax in the 70's and it lasted me throughout the 90's using this technique.

Michael Osuchowski depends on how long it’s been. I’d say after a couple days on the mountain or wherever your snowboarding. It’s good to get your board waxed. A shop can do it easy for about 15 bucks. You don’t have to have your own kit. But yes for the best experience while snowboarding wax your board as often as you can.
