Utterly superb, a dream layout. The sweeping curves, captivating scenes and track plan; the best use of the space imaginable! I'm guessing it's about 22ft by 14ft......

Many thanks for the lovely comment ... and good guess! The layout took a while to plan and build so far, I did want to recreate some vibes from the WCML, some flowing curves, a terminal station, but without the layout becoming too cluttered ... also aimed to be as reliable as possible (as I find nothing worse then having to move around to fix derailments under the wires or use the hand of god to prod stalled stock!) ... and so far so good! Regards, Mark

truly awesome. fully appreciate their is a lot to do, a little weathering on the rolling stock/locos would take this layout to another level. looking forward to the next instalment.
@ModelRailway4 жыл бұрын
Hi Christopher, many thanks for the comment ... and yes, definitely on the to-do list to carry out weathering. I’m not the best at art ... and I’ve also mostly concentrated on developing the layout and other projects ... but I have recently purchased George Dent’s book that covers weathering loco’s and rolling stock, also researching other excellent sources ... and have some spare stock to practise on. Thanks for this video. I’ve been looking at different couplings for my HAA wagons and you’ve answered it for me. Did you use the close or intermediate couplings from Hunt? Tia

Very enjoyable, cracking layout. Are you going to change everything over to Hunt couplings eventually? Secondly I gather to disconnect carriages with Hunt couplings its a case of just easing them apart by hand, if so how difficult is that? Regards Chris
@ModelRailway4 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, many thanks ... and yes, I’m converting most of my rakes over to Hunt couplings. This helps with optimising coupling spacing, reliability of push-pull operations, ease of removing vehicles and re-coupling, also prevents accidental uncoupling over the uncoupling ramps. It’s easy to convert with stock that has NEM pockets. The stock simply requires a gentle pull apart to uncouple ... really easy and I’m impressed with the reliability and highly recommend. I have three rakes of older Lima carriages and currently weighing up whether to convert or not. Regards, Mark

Can you help?, I'm will be doing a WCML modern image layout where I will have 00 scale palisade fencing enclosing an embankment, running up two sides to the track above if that makes sense?, Peco make straight palisade fencing but where can I get the same type and size fencing to run up the embankments at say 45 degrees, all railways today have this fencing surrounding track, could you possibly help me with ideas or anyone that might be able to offer help, many thanks, Chris.
@ModelRailway3 жыл бұрын
Hi Chris, that makes sense ... although I’ve never seen any OO Gauge palisade fencing at a 45 degree angle. I wonder if some other straight palisade fencing could be flexed to form an angle, such as Wills fencing or Scalemodelscenery. I have seen there’s 45 degree angle fencing in N gauge by NBrass models (code 22661) ... linked below. I can’t see if they do the fencing in OO gauge, could be worth dropping the proprietor a call or email to see if could upscale the etch to OO gauge. He’s a nice chap (many of my OLE masts were from NBrass). www.nbrasslocos.co.uk/kitimages/nlsfence/n22661palisade8at45web2.gif
@chrisuddin97603 жыл бұрын
@@ModelRailway Hi, thanks for your help, I've been in touch with N Brass and it's not possible to a larger scale, Scalemodelscenery say that there kit LX017-OO can be built so it will go up slopes in a step-up configuration. The first two posts & panels are set at the bottom of the slope. The second panel & third post is set slightly higher than the first panel & posts one & two. & so on. This then allows the Palisade fencing to be built up or down a slope, so I may have to give that a go but I think it will be one slat at a time or that's how it sounds as I've never used any of their kits, I'll continue to follow you with great interest my friend thanks again, Chris.

Massive project. Are you building this on your own?

Yes ... I’ve created the layout myself ... has taken approx 13yrs so far with plenty of breaks in between as work/other things been busier as times; good mindfulness and an enjoyable hobby as well with a variety of skills 👍
