Amazing and it looks wide and detailed. To me its always a shame so many modellers have to hide their carriage sidings. It would be great to see the night lit and modelled as separate area. And well done that's a massive city train corridor.

Lovely layout you should be very proud. I grew up next to wcml north of Wigan so these were the sights I saw everyday. I think the only thing that's missing is some classic EMUs from the period.

Many thanks! Hopefully brought back some good memories of the WCML for you …. and agree! An EMU or two would be good from one of the ready to run manufacturers … hopefully one day! 👍

The usual pleasure to watch from one of my favourite layouts. It's the ultimate way of using the available space to its greatest extent and impact. Like me though on my out-house layout, I bet you have to crawl on all fours to get around it! Regards Julian.
@ModelRailway2 жыл бұрын
Many thanks Julian! I’m glad I took quite a bit of time to plan the layout and track design quite a few years ago … it’s worked well so far, but could always do with more space! I did spend quite a bit of time on the floor recently doing the wiring for the new yard but I now have the drop-down boards that help! Kind regards, Mark

@@ModelRailway It is magnificent Mark. We could always do with more space...35' by 18' of unbroken, warm, dry room would be my ideal space! Unfortunately, back in the land of reality we have to make do with our outbuildings. I'm currently building a layout in an outhouse area which is two rooms joined together. It is a joint use area used for house storage and the railway so I don't have free rein. Awkward shapes, a fireplace and doorways/access limit the construction too. I have to crawl under it to get to the centre access area. I'm about a year in so there's an enormous amount to do and the track plan isn't finalised either! Yes, it's a bit on the hoof, our old friend Heath Robinson! .... I'd probably do a lot of it differently if I was starting from scratch again. Anyway, it is what it is now. If you'd like to follow its progress I have started my KZbin channel now. That too is in its infancy! Keep up your video releases as they are really appreciated, inspirational and looked forward to. All the best, regards Julian

Many thanks for the kind comment … and yes, I tried to get a feel of the WCML in various parts of the layout … while not recreating any one location. The modern loco’s are lovely indeed … the main thing I like is the haulage and reliability and smoothness … so gives greater confidence of operating … and a few more loco’s on pre-order! 👍

Brilliant video as ever, you must have to take a week off work just to clean the track 😁
@ModelRailway2 жыл бұрын
Haha! 😊 I only clean the track once or twice a year …. I try and keep the shed dust free as much as possible, also use a dehumidifier to keep moisture/humidity down. For cleaning I use the CMX wagon and can take a few hours to run around the layout … also shunt stock out the way especially for the sidings … but regular running also helps keep the track clean! Glad you enjoyed the video! 👍

Great video of this exceptional layout. With all your rolling stock yard 4 was definitely needed. Love the new locos also. Only one complaint though, don’t leave it so long next time 🤪😂
@ModelRailway2 жыл бұрын
Many thanks for the kind comment … yes, can never have enough sidings! 😉 The wiring and finishing of the yard did drag on due to life and stuff, hence the time gap from the last video and recording and editing does take a time …. but hopefully the next video coming much sooner as some new wagons due to arrive! 🤞🤞😀

Hi Mark - I know it is not my gauge but it is always a joy to watch your videos. Enjoyed this one especially with all the work ongoing underneath. I am quite sure I have asked before but the mind is not what it was. Guessing this is in an outbuilding and what are the measurements as your layout looks huge. Regards Chris
@ModelRailway2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Chris for the kind comment, glad you enjoyed! No problem … yes, it’s a block-built building in the garden and it’s approx 22ft by 14ft (7m by 4.5m). I’m planning to do a history of the layout video at some stage using pictures I took during it’s construction … hope this helps, Mark 👍

Another great video. Can anyone tell me who makes the RES mail wagons? It looks like there is three different wagons in the train. Any information about them would be appreciated.
@ModelRailway2 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, many thanks for the comment. The RES parcel train carriages are all manufactured by Bachmann … Codes 39-200 or 39-200 are the Super BG carriages, 39-270 is the code for the GUV’s and 39-183A is for the Full Brake BG. Hope this helps 👍

Hi, what system do you use to run your layout, and how far apart are your dropper wires? Everything runs so smoothly Cheers
@ModelRailway2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment and compliment … I try to get the track work well aligned to enable smooth and reliable running … but mishaps do occur sometimes! I currently use DC analogue for the layout (Gaugemaster controllers) and Peco solenoid point motors. I’m thinking of doing a more detailed behind the scenes video at some stage to cover the controls in more detail. hope this helps 👍
@ModelRailway2 жыл бұрын
Almost forgot … I try to use dropper wires for each rail to avoid relying on the fishplates for electrical connection. I also use Electrofrog points (with auto switches) to try and have as much wheel to rail contact as possible for reliable electrical pickups.
