Great review! The comfort alone is insane. I hope Sivga uses the chassis as a basis for future headphones, because that alone is going to give them an edge. They seem to be building a group of headphones with different tunings, which is good since people like different things.

Hey Dave, it was the HD600 which lured me deeper into the proverbial rabbit hole way back shortly after being introduced in the 1990's and since then I have purchased a number of headphones, a few of which I have sold off. I currently own 17 pairs. My wife and friends think I'm crazy but I enjoy listening to what is always like different systems, in my view. So along the way I have tried open and closed back, I've tried wooden cups, planars, wireless, noise cancelling, etc. I currently have 3 Sennheiser (535/600/660S2), 3 Audeze (EL-8/LCD-2/LCD-X), Elex, DCA Open X, Sundara, 2 KEF (MM500/Porsche Design Space One), Sundara, Mark Levinson 5909, 3 Sony and Meze 109 Pro, all from various price points. I haven't been able to part with a few of them for various reasons of my own but mostly because I hate losing money and I trust my own ears enough to know if I hate a headphone. So my question here is: does it make sense to you to keep shopping on the lower end of the scale or to spend a bit more for a better headphone? I know it might sound silly but I have to set a limit at some point because my pockets aren't real deep. I would love to try out the Audeze MM500 which would be at my absolute upper level of expenditure, but to be honest I hate the fact that their pads fall off all the time.

Nice collection of headphone. It's amazing how the 600 holds up over the years. I get enjoyment out of headphones of varying price points but none are as good as my Audeze LCD-5. So spending money on headphone is worth it. But I say when purchasing at a high tier price tag know what you seeking and do your research. But there is a difference in quality and sonics.

I’ve also owned dozens of headphones & currently have 13. I’d recommend selling some of the lower tier stuff that are mostly side grades of each other & use that money to get something higher tier; a flagship. Personally I don’t see it as losing money since you’ve gotten X amount of time w those headphones, I think of it as renting them & going to someone else who can continue to enjoy them

Isn't it incredible what they can build and sell for $300,- . I don't own any Sivga headphones, but damn they look good. My favorite hifi store mentioned them in their newsletter last week. I recently bought the Denon ah-d9200 and the Fiio FT3. My next buy...... ?? Probably Stax

Another contender in the line up! I’ve been thinking of picking up the sundara, but this might sway me a bit. Listen to a wide range of music. What would you prefer since they are in the same price bracket?

Different presentation. The Sundara is more intimate, closer stage width, has a little more powerful impact when powered correctly and are a tad more forthright in presenting details, may have a slight advantage with resolution. The tone and timbre is more accurate on the Luan.

Considering the 620s is a closed back and Luan is an open back it wont be a fair comparison. But I hope to get a 620s in for review at some point.

Hi Dave, excellent review again, thanks! Question: I like my HD600 on my Darkvoice tube-amp. Did you try the Luan on tubes? If yes: is it a similar "jump forward" as the HD600 in enjoyment?

The Luan sounds great on tubes but doesn't scale like the HD600 on tubes.

You also liked the Oriole very much but it looks like the Luan graphs a bit better avoiding the dip Oriole has. Are they very different? I bought the Oriole and I like them very much but there just seems to be something missing I can't put my finger on. I suspect it shows in the graphed dip though.

Yes, the Luan is a vast improvement over the Oriole in my opion. It is more balanced and controlled. The Oriole does have more bass impact and is warmer though.

Obviously I watched the video first and I'm sorry if I didn't understand 100% of the video because I don't speak English, I have to read the subtitles and translate them in real time while I watch the video. The HD600 is better with natural tone and timbre, more mid forward, better with layering and depth. The Luan sounds more open and has more bass. I'm sorry if I offended you, that wasn't my intent. I assumed you skipped the comparison. I apologize for jumping to conclusions.

The 109 Pro is a bit more biting in the upper mids, especially around 8k. Neither are offensive to me but the 109 Pro has a little more. But both could be to if someone is sensitive in that area.

I've not heard either since I reviewed them which was at least a year ago. If memory serves me correctly the LCD-X is more neutral and analytical than the Clear og.
