Hey David, i don't if you've seen it?, but at the Xbox Tokyo Game show, they showed a trailer of a jrpg obviously inspired by Chrono Trigger, it is called The Threads of Time and is also getting a pc release, there was no mention of Playstation or Nintendo though.

@4qp I have to admit when I first saw it, I thought it was going to be a remaster of Chrono Trigger, until I saw the characters. It looks good but trying to come close to Chrono Trigger is a big task for any developer.

I am super excited for Lunar. These two games were amongst many great JRPGs which we never got in Europe at the time, which means that I have never played them. Looking forward to that now as they are too expensive to buy second-hand.

LOL the chapter title for River City Saga says "River City Ransom" and I was really excited thinking there would be some kind of JRPG hybrid of that old fighting game... I'm hoping I like Metaphor, if I enjoy the demo I'll probably buy it day one! As for Level 5, I feel like they're taking FOREVER on Decapolice. Now, it's another year out?! Love it but the only thing I hated about the 2 PS1 Lunar games is must equip items to Heal it battle but you kind of have LESS items to use in battle then a Dragon Quest game Lunar Legend and the PSP version of Lunar 1 let Nall carry your items into battle directly IE can buy up to 99 healing herbs and don't have to equip them on party members before the battles start. So I'm hoping the 2 Lunar remakes don't use the PS1 versions must equip healing items before battles start to use them in battle and have at least item use be similar to Legend/Harmony of the Silver Star for BOTH games. Also in the Sega CD version of Eternal Blue the Lion and Dragons nest dungeons gave out DIFFERENT chest items depending on if you enter them before killing Zophar during the main game or AFTER the PS1 version of Eternal Blue ONLY had them as POST Zophar/Epilogue ONLY area's.

@@davidvinc Yep yep!! I've been replaying the SegaCD versions of Lunar to get full scenes and take screenshots to make patterns. I plan to make both Luna and Lucia to hang in my office of our new home. I love the anime scenes that are drawn with pixels. Since they are drawn on a grid, it translates very well to cross-stitch!!

I will say in regards to the translation, the clip where Alex pulls Luna onto the boat in the Remaster trailer uses the WD translation "It's not just my adventure, it's ours!" Just checked and that line isn't in the PSP version or Lunar Silver Star Story Touch (which uses the Harmony script IIRC). A good sign for us Working Designs purists!

I do that's why I'm glad the PS1 version completely removed the Magic EXP system from the original game and in that version the higher your EXP lv is up to lv 99 the MORE MAGIC EXP you needed and the Chiro Mongrels in that version still have 999 HP and even if they don't run away its a LOT hard to kill those in the White Dragon Cave even AT lv 51 and easier on the PS1 version.

Dynasty Warriors has no origins technically. All of the games are based on the Three Kingdoms era of Japan (you covered River City Three Kingdoms which does the same thing, puts the RCR characters as Three Kingdoms character), and they're based on the actual history starting with the Yellow Turban Rebellion in 184 and continue on to the specific point of history they end in. There's a novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms, which covers a romanticized version of these characters. Origins is a weird title because we (3K fans) don't really know what the Origin is for the new character.

It's a shame Yokai Watch never took off here. I had a lot of fun with 1 and 2 (I never played 3). It'd be fun to have a new attempt at it now that Pokemon itself is not as big as it used to be. I remember back when the original YW was out Pokemon fans were up in arms trying to cancel it. Elitism can really suck at times.

most people might not realize this the Lunar game that is being remastered is the original release from the Sega CD which sadly very few people managed to play since the Sega CD failed to sell as a platform upgrade for the Sega Genesis\Mega drive. I am one of the few that was able to play this game in the 90's but I know most people are familiar with the Lunar series on the PS1 which was a remake of the Sega CD games for the OG PlayStation which the version that most people played which had an improved art style and gameplay vs the original.

Calling it now: the Switch versions of DecaPolice and Inazuma Eleven RE will be quietly cancelled and replaced by Switch 2 versions. I really doubt that Switch versions of games will be released in 2026.
