Only people with experience using an angle grinder, bench grinder, or dremel tool should attempt this modification. On this one, I used a thin metal cutting disc, not recommended for flat grinding.

I remember reading in my bible about doing good for your enemies and by doing so ya pour hot coals on their heads. Many say yea that just burn em up, but Jewish tradition was someone was a fire tender and in the early mornings they would go door to door seeing if anyone needed hot coals to get their fires started, some folks would go to the fire tender with a container that they carried on their head and the fire tender would give them some hot coals to put in it.. Fire is one of the earliest convinces and i am so thankful to have found your channel!!!

Proverbs 25:21-22 and Romans 12:20-21 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.

Careful grinding with a cutting disc ! I gave my 511 and bought a 510. I prefer them over the companion due to lighter design and thinner blade

I wonder how many models of knives they have. I'll have to investigate.

@DavidWestBgood2ppl They got so many, even for construction work ! I like to keep it simple, so I use the same basic tools all the time.

I enjoyed this video. I haven't even attempted to grind the spine of a knife, but I am sure I could do it. I have lots of experience using small grinders. I should get a ferrel rod. Then I will have a reason to square up the edge of my knife spines. I was able to get a fire started with a Qtip and a junk Bic lighter that I found. Actually two fires with one Qtip.

I bought a new Bahco file recently, done a few machete spines with ease and then four O1 knives. It done very well on the first two knives but by the time I got to the last two it was really struggling to do that nice new file cut as easy as the first two. Took too long. File is still ok for metal, just not hardened knife steel…I expected as much but needed them done. I don’t have a belt grinder thus the file. I was considering a belt grinder but I prefer non-powered tools where possible…might need to reconsider that. Thanks, David.

What degree angle would you say you put on there initially? I noticed you didn't just use the scandi grind angle to a burr. I did with mine but I still found it difficult to get it hair popping. I used the smiths like yours and I have a DMT diamond that's almost same as smiths. Btw the DMT is much more quality and lasts longer and is same price or cheaper. I got it sharp but I still feel it could get much sharper if you have any tips. Thank you.
@DavidWestBgood2ppl4 ай бұрын
I try to keep it at the scandi grind first then put a micro bevel on it. I never get mine that sharp either. You can use polish and a strop.

@@DavidWestBgood2ppl Thank You, Sounds about right. Sometimes you need reassurance before you grind a nice knife into a pile of dust and a frown on you face. Must be their proprietary metal choice. Some knives like 17Crmov17 are impossible to dull. Couple swipes on a stone a bam razor sharp. Still love the Mora's though they are a unique and fine knife. I'm dying to get that bushcraft with the spongy handle. Appreciate the input David!

I just hand filed a 90 degree onto a Mora Robust and it was tough. What grit are you using on the angle grinder?
@DavidWestBgood2ppl11 ай бұрын
No grits on an angle grinder’s disc. This one is rated for Carbon Steel.

I am not that good with an angle grinder. My tool of choice is a 30+ year old 1x30 dremel belt grinder.
@DavidWestBgood2ppl11 ай бұрын
It'll work. You only need to square the spine from the handle down to the break. The break is where it angles down to the point.
