"and hopefully make a new one." That was so classy of Sammy, it would have been easy for Kenny to feel like the odd one out in this lineup, but Sammy made sure to include him!

What a superb gathering especially with dear Roy Castle, one of this country's all-time talents cut short through the big C at a very early age. Kenny, a riot and, again, afflicted too soon and what can you say about the great Sammy and the incredible Buddy. We've sure lost some amazing talent.

I was waiting for Roy to join in the band. I think the floor manager messed up the timing. The true endearing moment, was SDJ putting his hand on Michael's leg when he gave sincere thanks for being looked after for the show. That is such statement of a true heart warming personality. God bless them all.

@63Brummie - Yeah. You rarely knew who was going to be on Parky's show until the NIGHT. So it blew my mind when TWO of my five greatest heroes (Kenny and Buddy) were on the SAME SHOW (and you'd never expect THOSE two to ever MEET!) And I quite liked Roy as well - then SAMMY walked out!! HELL of a show! Was a pure fluke I'd taped it, too. Oh - Dudley Moore, Burt Bacharach and John Barry, in case you were wondering...

My friend Lee Musiker is on the piano.BTW, I don't know if Buddy knew that Sammy Davis was coming on the show or not but the producers certainly knew - his musical number is clearly rehearsed -( bass player is reading music!)! Fake spontaneity!
@loucontino48044 жыл бұрын
Buddy had a huge soft spot for Sammy. A) Sammy could sing and dance better than anybody and B) because they both were child entertainers that came up in Vaudeville. The crap they took in their lifetimes was the reason neither ever talked with affection about those days. Sammy being a black American took even more. But Buddy too, to earn $10 a week had to demean himself to be a 'stooge' in the theater. He rarely ever looked back on those days.
