Looks great Davie. Just tied up one of these with a slight change. Crimson marabou for the tail and added a couple of JC's. Going to give it a go on my local loch tomorrow. thanks for the tips. 🎣👏👍

Hello Davie, What an honor to be the first to comment on one of your flies. Of course I think it is a cracking wee pattern and I am in the process of tying a few to try on the lakes here in the U. S. It really would attract brownies especially wild who have seen many flies. I am going to introduce the flies this spring for the first fishing trip of the club that most of my friends are associated with. I of course cannot fish now, but I am having a great time testing different flies from all of my research to try new flies from around the world in New England waters. Hope this one is a good producer. It has a pedigree for it's maker. All the best for the upcoming Holiday season. God Bless Sean

I can vouch for the fish catching capabilities of this fly, I've had several fantastic sessions with it catching many rainbow trout. I've got a couple of dozen tied up in my box, some weighted too.

This is a very nice-looking fly, and thank you for showing your very useful technique for using those larger feathers. I bought some peacock recently and it's a fascinating material. The slightest movement makes it shiver in the most marvellous life-like way, and I'm a bit surprised it isn't used more often. Are there other patterns that use it? I've only found one (apart from Goat's Toe), and that's a pattern given by Courtney-Williams in Dictionary of Trout Flies, called an Alcock's Attractor. It's basically a yellow and peacock-hackle spider that certainly looks very nice, but I've not had a chance to try it out yet, so I don't know if it's any good, or one of those flies that have caught more anglers than fish!

Hi phryar, Flies that you could tye with the blue neck feather from the peacock would be the Blue Zulu, Gold and Kingfisher Butcher as it would replace the hackle of the Zulu and the wings of the butcher patterns just as I did with the Silver version..I'm glad you liked the fly and I'm sure you'll enjoy tying the others as they will all catch really well in many sizes... All the very best Davie

Hello Davie, It sounded as if you participated in competition fly tying quite a while ago. You don't do that any longer? Mike

Hi Mike, The first fly tying competition I entered was in 1985 which was just into the first couple of years of me starting to tye my own flies, I thought it would be good fun and I got straight through to the masters..It was sponsored by Benson and Hedges, I only ever won a round or two which to be honest I was very happy with... I stopped entering them in the early 90s... All the very best Davie

Hi WeeManSham, The first fish I caught on this fly was a 3 1/2 lb Seatrout on a size 10 double, I'm sure it would certainly be a great fly for Dollaghan... All the very best Davie
