As long-term practice shows, this (option) is one of the most popular and catchy flies on one of the rivers of the Kola Peninsula. In my 50s, I just started tying flies, and it was thanks to your lessons that I acquired some methods that are still not used when tying flies by many fly fishing men. Moreover, some of your ideas have significantly expanded my methods for tying. I very carefully always follow your videos on KZbin. Thank you Devie! Oleg.

Every once in a while I miss one of your ties. Must have been sick or something. I've seen it now and as usual you never disappoint. Funny I found this just after a comment about living to be 100 and still tying flies! Thanks for sharing. All the best to you and yours. God bless all. Sean

Nice fly David. Been following your channel and was waiting for something like this. Thanks for a lot of interesting patterns to test, both in salt and freshwater

Awesome tie there Davey, I'm wondering what is Arctic Runner. Is Tasmanian Devil similar?
@DavieMcPhail3 жыл бұрын
Hi Anablak P, I would say the nearest hair to the arctic runner which is Icelandic pony would be Opossum which I have used on many salmon flies..I'm glad you liked the fly.. Alll the very best Davie..

Hi Davie, I'm kind of new to Arctic runner, I just started using it last season. I think I'm tying my tails & wings too long because it's fouling around the double! Do you have the same problem? Cheers Emmet from Co Antrim.
@DavieMcPhail10 жыл бұрын
Hi Hemmet, Shortening the wing and the tail will help but also use a stiffer hair like bucktail under the wing as this will help support the wing and tail from doing this. To be honest this will always happen at times so I would always check my fly from time to time especially when I was coming on to a good lie.. All the very best Davie

Hi Davie, Beautiful fly in deed! I will definitely try it here in New Brunswick Canada, where the Black Bear and Undertaker are of the favorite flies. One question tough. What king of hook are You using on it? It's a very nice hook. Thank You Terry
@DavieMcPhail10 жыл бұрын
Hi Terry, It is a nice pattern and one I know that will be worth tying for New Brunswick as it's down the same roots as the famous flies you mentioned. The hook I used was a Partridge Silver Salar which can be a bit hard to find, their Patriot hook is much the same shape and should be easier to find...Let me know how you get on with it... All the very best Davie
