This can be done a lot easier. Just make a text, add polygon mask to it, ad polygon on that and so forth until you have selected the whole text. Now you can move them individually

Hi,Thanks for your video) You can explain why you need a "instance", why you use a "instance", more specifically, and what it allows you to do not only with text." I do not understand this moment. I think this problem is not only mine)
@DigitalVectorStudios4 жыл бұрын
Ok sure. With Fusion nodes we can copy + paste nodes. When we do that an exact copy of the node is made from the original. If we change a setting in the original node, the setting change does not carry over to the copied node. In Fusion, we also have the option to paste an instance of the original. In this case, when a setting is changed on the original node, that setting change is also made in the instanced copy. The same is true in reverse. If we make a change to a setting on the instanced copy, the setting change is also made on the original node. For making templates, this is a huge time saver. In some cases though, we want to change a setting on the instanced copy but not the original. Resolve gives us that option too. Like the example I used in the video, we can deinstance settings when we need to do that.

On a video I cut a scene and freezed it so it's like a photo and now I'm trying to make it fracture like glass shattering out. I put polygons and then merges in front and connected and connected to the control media in but it doesnt show on screen what I cut from the photo. I just do everything one by one you just did here but something looks not right. What do you think?

Can you do this to a Photo or Image? I'm trying to do this to an image as my logo comes in, it slams on the image and then cracks the image a bit. I'll look incase you have a video already on that, but just in case, I'll also ask the question. Thank you Sir! PS: I tried to follow your video to the letter. I even had my wife try it and she has never used DR16 lol... but we got stuck at the polygons. Now I'm not a first time user of this but it was just frustrating me that multiple breaks were not showing up at the same time. I could get one going, but not 2 or more. I clicked on Invert and OMG... I'm so lost. I noticed this was posted on Apr... so I'll understand if no reply lol.

In the video description there is a link to a template file. It’s basically all the nodes connected together from the tutorial. If you are not seeing the full description info below the video click “show more”. Open the file in notepad, then copy-paste the data into the flow area (where the nodes go) on the Fusion page. You will need to replace my node called text_control with your image or video. The polygon nodes will need to connect to the blue connector on your media’s node. Just drag and drop your media from explorer/finder to the flow area and it will create a media in node. Let me know if that works

Hi, someone knows why when I connect the polygon1 with the instance text, this one shows me the piece of text I created and not the text without the piece ?
@god-lightbulb4 жыл бұрын
@4:22 it’s not clear, when you have six Merge nodes, how come you select only Merge3 to connect to the Text_Control? Why Merge3, rather than any of the others: Merge1, Merge2, Merge4, Merge5, Merge6 etc? What if you had selected a different Merge node to connect to Text_Control? If I'm using a number of Merge nodes, how do I decide which one to connect to the Text_Control node?
@DigitalVectorStudios4 жыл бұрын
The video is a little confusing because @4:22 I only have built the pieces breaking out of the left side. Once you draw all the polys on the right side, the bottom merge is connected to the text control. You can add as many polys and merges as you want - pieces breaking out.

NAB is great- it was virtual only this year, but still plenty to do. The templates are available on the website. There are two .setting files, including the one used in the tutorial. There’s also a help PDF to explain how to install the templates. Here’s the location digitalvectorstudios.com/shop/resolve-break-up-template.html
@god-lightbulb4 жыл бұрын
I need to create this effect for breaking up, not a digitally-created text node as you did, but I need to break up an image that is a graphic file (e.g. JPEG, PNG). So, in the Edit Page, I placed the JPEG graphic file into the timeline, and then convert the graphic file into a Fusion composition. Is that correct? Anyway, inside that Fusion composition of the graphic file, I tried to follow your steps, but got bogged down. This is a real challenge for newbies like me. I'll persist. I wonder if the template - that you said will be in your next tutorial - will simply allows us to substitute the object to be broken up. For instance, if I need to break up a JPEG graphic file image, can I substitute your text node with my graphic file Fusion composition? Then re-draw the polygon nodes for the type of breakup pattern that I want. Also, in your followup tutorial, can you explain the basics of what is an "instance"? I see that you did it, but don't understand what is an "instance".
@saadshah78574 жыл бұрын
An easy way to break up an image is to use the particle image emitter.
@DigitalVectorStudios4 жыл бұрын
Yes you can do it that way or you can just drag a fusion composition to the timeline like I did in the video. Then in the fusion page drag and drop an image or video right into the flow (node) area. Yes, the template will work with any image I’ll show in the next video how to use it with an image. An instance is a copy of a node with all of the properties tied to the original. So if I change the color of a text node, the color will automatically change in the instance.
@DigitalVectorStudios4 жыл бұрын
True Sadi I did cover that in the video. That works if you have the machine to handle it. I made an effect over a year ago similar to the disintegration effect in End Game using my studio machine with 64 GB of ram, an 8Gb GeForce video card and dual Xeons. Resolve kept crashing. I did get it to work with fusion and I could make it go faster using the Studio version render farm capability, but it pushes resources. If you keep the particles way down it can work with a less powerful setup. To use particles that are actually pieces of the image or video, the method described in my video will need to be followed.
@GargoylesAtWork4 жыл бұрын
@@DigitalVectorStudios Yeah, I do keep the particle count very low otherwise the system slows down quite a bit.

Great tutorial! I'm trying to reproduce this effect on a logo that I already have set up to animate in and reveal the logo. How would you suggest I set that up?
@DigitalVectorStudios2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it works. Replace my node called text_control from the video with your image or video. You can use a loader node or just drag and drop your file onto the flow area within the Fusion Page and it will create a media node.
@god-lightbulb4 жыл бұрын
I tried again to reproduce this, but came unstuck @5:41 when copying instances of the Polygons. In your example, the second instance, from the top, connects the Merge1 to its Instance by a blue arrow line. Whereas, when I copied the instance of Polyon 9, the blue line went from Polygon 9 to the Instance, rather than from the Merge1 to the Instance. I could not break the connecting blue line that connects the Polygon9 to its instance. Also, I found it difficult to create exact-shaped polygons that perfectly mesh with other parts. Even though I placed the points of the polygon node at precisely the angles of the jagged edges, the further polygon did not fit precisely with the first polygon.
@DigitalVectorStudios4 жыл бұрын
Hey RT thanks for watching and working on your Fusion skills with this tutorial. In the Fusion page when we copy a node and paste an instance copy, Resolve automatically creates a blue line connecting the original node copied and the instance node, showing there is a relationship there. If they bother you, they can be turned off by right-clicking in the flow panel (area where the nodes are placed) go to Options, click off “show instance links”. To get the polygon points positioned try zooming in to the area you are drawing. Hold down CTRL (CMMD-MAC) and use your mouse wheel in the viewing window. You can move the polygon points around if you are not happy with the location. Editing and creating effects can certainly be a little work but in my opinion worth the effort, although I also enjoy the journey of finding new ways to create.

Im trying to work it out, but when I put my 1st polygon onto instance node, and try to open it in window 1 it doesnt show me cut of my polygon with whole text like you, but only shows my cut piece. Any idea what I am missing and why I cant make it work?
