Excellent tips. I wasn't even aware of the drop down menu on the color page where you choose "Color" so as to prevent affecting other adjustments like stabilization in your shots. Good work.

Excellence as usual, happy I subscribed. A suggestion if I may. Instead of losing information by desaturating shadows and highlights. Use log wheels in combination with a low range to move in the opposite direction of the unwanted hue. This way you maintain color information and/or get a desired hue.
@georgekamenov_
@georgekamenov_ Жыл бұрын
Also a good option. I tend to use that mostly when there's a lot I need to protect in terms of information. But if it's already blown out highlights or crushed shadows this way is just way less effort for essentially the same result 🙂

Great! Can you tell what Color management you use with phantom luts?

Standard DaVinci YRGB because I believe that's what the creator of the LUTs has recommended in the instructional pdf that comes with them 😅

Awesome! Thanks for the video! So you know how to make the video pause when you move the playhead? This is annoying for someone coming from premiere.
@georgekamenov_
@georgekamenov_ Жыл бұрын
If you grab the playhead while the video is playing and move it it will keep playing from the spot where you dropped it. Just make sure that when you're dragging the playhead the video isn't already playing.

my mistake is having grainy dark/night footage would definitely kill my mood to color the footages.. it would make the grain noticeable.. so make sure you guys shoot without any grain (add more lighting)

What does each node in your "preset" does? I'm new to color grading, i know how to color manage and what each button/slider does but I don't know what an optimal node tree would be. Like should it be exposure -> white balance -> look -> cst or something else?
@georgekamenov_
@georgekamenov_ Жыл бұрын
Node trees can vary a lot project to project, usually my trees look something like WB - Exposure - CST/Conversion LUT - Look and anything else I need after. Sometimes I'll have Noise Reduction before all of those and occasionally if I'm using Grain and Halation those will be at the start as well.
@billythecat
@billythecat Жыл бұрын
@George Kamenov can you please answer just one more question? Why is your cst in the middle/ before look and not last?
@animalsnature4krelaxation

Hey. Any suggestions on color grading/ correction techniques for H 264 downloaded/ compressed footage? There is obviously not as a big choice to play with compared to raw, but would be good to hear from you.
@georgekamenov_
@georgekamenov_ Жыл бұрын
Well, in those cases less is more. Don't try to push it too much with the grades. The tip with using the HSL curves is pretty useful here as well. Pretty tough to work around compressed footage unfortunately 😅

The pros definitely don’t qualify first, it’ll destroy their image. Even if they’re Grading 12-Bit footage. They go by the rule of starting broad to narrow.
@georgekamenov_

Fair enough. Maybe I've just come across color grading videos that happen to be outliers where they prefer qualifiers first 😅
