I am currently working on an edit and the original video has black borders on top and the bottom and applying the zoom transition makes the borders expand which doesnt look nice. The length of the compound clip is limited by the largest length of footage within in it. If a clip inside a compound clip is 1 second long, the maximum length of the compound clip is 1 second, if you increase the length of the footage inside the compound clip from 1 second to 2 seconds then the maximum length of the compound clip is now 2 seconds. I hope this helps a bit
