great walkthrough thanks so much, but i find it completely ridiculous that Fairlight as a DAW cant record your midi keyboard! you have to do a direct audio live record to get the result. which means it's not editable.. this needs to be fixed asap.

GREAT ! I didn't understand why you had to do another "record" track, couldn't you record directly from track A3 Kontakt?

so this is great. im using three top tier computers and none of them can play a native instrument and includingn kontakt on the track to record without sounding super slow when recording. when i disable record it plays normal. what to do? please help
@BenoniStudio8 ай бұрын
It's still better to record into a DAW. Fairlight is good for mixing and simple voice over recording, but a real DAW will work better if you are composing with MIDI.

Is there a way to play a sound from a VST without having an external midi keyboard? For example on Cubase you have a virtual keyboard in the transport, thanks 👍
@claudiod.73852 жыл бұрын
Hi, really great tutorial. However when I try this using my hardware midi keyboard, after pressing and release a note on it I got stuck notes on the Kontakt virtual midi keyboard. I would greatly appreciate if you would be so kind to suggest a solution to this problem. I do not have this problem if I use Kontakt in standalone mode or if I load Kontakt into Reaper. Thank you in advance.

How would you add a compressor or something to the master track to minimize volume jumps?
@BenoniStudio5 жыл бұрын
Double click the Dynamic section in the mixer on the master track to use the built-in compressor/limiter. Or drag and drop any compressor you want on to the master track.

Great tutorial on this! Thank you. What VST plug-ins have you found the best fit for this workflow? What you were using seemed to have loops built in to the percussion track that appear to be samples which sound great. Any recommendations you can provide much appreciated as I’m just looking at integrating this into DR for an upcoming docu-series editing and sound design config. Cheers. (Sub’d)

I just got my MIDI wind controller working in Reaper! It took a hardware addition, but I got it. And let me tell you, toodling on a little electronic recorder and having a pipe organ come out of the speakers is just pure lust. But to make it work, I needed a little USB gadget that effectively fixes the BLE MIDI brokenness in Win10. I don't want to rebuild everything in Resolve! I'll take the increased workflow and keep my DAW.

@BenoniStudio8 ай бұрын
No, you don't have to have Kontakt, any VST2/3 plugins should show up. Just make sure you set up their locations. I have a newer video about this over on another channel DAVINCI RESOLVE 18 - How to use Audio FX (VST & AU Plugins) EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW 🔥 kzbin.info/www/bejne/lXm8pXyKfbJrn5o And Kontakt isn't $700, it's currently on sale for only $149 👍 Use my affiliate link to buy benoni.click/KONTAKT-7

At first I thought that this was a great video, but there are issues. The Track Direct option doesn't always work - but, anyway, you don't need a separate track to record - you can just record on the synthesiser track and then move the recording around as you please, so it's pointless mucking around with the patching.
@brownliketheearth2 жыл бұрын
Woah.
@JWS19684 жыл бұрын
The beauty of true midi is that you can edit it after the fact. Move stuff around and alter the instruments later. For example I'd put the rough structure down with a keyboard then experiment at my leisure with different instruments, so you don't like the horns change them to strings, you don't like the stings change them to woodwind. This method is no better than playing a synth in through your interface. Once you've recorded it, it's set in stone.

Fairlight can never be taken seriously until it has proper 'MIDI' these are just work arounds.
