DaVinci Robot How Does it Work

The Da Vinci Robot is the best piece of technology that we have available in the operating room. It was first created with the intention of using it in the military. The goal was to have technicians in the field that could attach the robot to the patient and then have a doctor somewhere in the US with the right expertise to operate remotely. The robot allows us to see things that we could not otherwise see with the naked eye. It removes a surgeon's tremor and it has arms that articulate to mimic our natural arm movement. We can also use the robot as a training tool by having a more experienced surgeon walk you through the case simultaneously without them having to be present in the room. With such powerful technology comes incredible responsibility for our patients. Always ask if your surgeon has been credentialed to use the Robot not just in a weekend course but through a fellowship or residency program.
