I was 16 and working at Kmart in April 1995 when this came out. I know this because I stocked the single cassettes on the shelf. And yes its sad af, beautiful and heart wrenching

My nephew was named after this beautiful song. In November we lost his father, my brother. Played this song at the funeral. I never really listened to the words until that day. I really feel as if my brother was speaking these words to his son. I miss my brother James Ward... Thank you for this song!!!! For having the inspired words to write whenever you wrote this. You never know when the lyrics to a poem, or song will help in a time of need. Thank you Davis Daniel for an amazing song!!!

I so love this song! I remember this song in particular because it was on when my alarm went off one morning. I have never forgotten this song, simply because it was the only song to ever move me to tears without having children of my own at the time. i can tell you from the bottom of my heart, thank you very much for posting this vidoe. Now that I have children of my own, this song still comes to mind because of the simple little things he puts in the song. Absolutely incredible! Brilliant!

I know this man. He is my dad's cousin....... seen him live a bunch. He sold his best song "wishing on someone else's star". Tyler was his son. He went through a divorce and made this....... His son must be in his late 200 now I remember playing with him at party's. Great song

When this song first came out my son must have been about 9 years old. My sons name is Tyler. The words seemed to say how I felt so I told him I wrote the song just for him. I never imagined he would tell is friends at school. He was crushed when his friends proved I had not written the song. We now laugh about it.

I named my son Tyler right b4 this song came out. My baby is now 24 yrs already graduated from college in Texas & graduates from UNLV next May. I miss my baby boy. At least he's still a mama's boy!! I love you Tyler

I have looked for this song for over 9 years now! The 1st time I ever heard it or saw the video on CMT was in December 1994....The same month and year my 1st born son, Jeffrey Tyler was born! I had it recorded on a VHS tape and when I moved in 2004 I lost the tape!! So glad I found it so I can play it for him 19 years later!! Truly love this song, and have since the 1st time I heard it...and it could not be more fitting than it is right now!! Hearing it for the 1st time in 19 yrs I am sitting here with tears rolling down my face!

I heard this song years ago before my Son Tyler was even born,he's 24 now.I have searched over the years to find the Artist,with no luck until now.I am literally in tears.

I first heard this after me and my ex divorced in 1993 when my son Tyler was just a few months old. This song hit me like a ton of bricks. I love you Tyler

This is the song that inspires me to name my son Tyler. I just found out I was pregnant with a boy(I was 34 weeks pregnant when I found out I was having a baby) I heard this on KYGO in Denver. My Tyler is now 20 yrs old and just found the song again prefect timing.

back in the 80s I bought his 1 album with william and mary on it in guess it was his voice that drew me to him in never knew that he was born in Illinois I often wonder what happened to him

i saw him sing this song in the late 90s and i know that my next sons name was gonna be Tyler and in 2000 me and my wife had a son and he got the name Tyler now its been 14 yrs i have been in his life from day one my wife left me and took him away from me and my world is gone i have not seen or talked to him in 7 days and im going crazy but this song help cuz its one he plays all the time and he knows why he got the name Tyler all i want is my world back i dont want her just my best friend and my son so Tyler if you see this post I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU love DAD

Angela Birney I am so sorry for your loss....and what's really weird is I have another son named Austin! I can not imagine losing either one of them!! They are my whole life, and so is my little girl Celestia!! This song has so many meanings to a lot of people, but hun I think for you it means more to you than anyone could even begin to know!
