I bought a Sony TC-200 reel-to-reel deck today in working condition complete with its speakers and cables from a local Value Village for $50 which may seem a bit steep regarding thrift store prices, but had I bought a unit like that on eBay, the shipping costs alone would have been anywhere from $50 to $125 due to the weight. These units were built like tanks and I was lucky enough to find one intact and in great shape. :)

I was just "gifted" one of these. I opened it up and cleaned all the linkages and greased everything and got it going. You mentioned replacing the springs. Where did you get them? Or where can I get them? Also, I'm glad you turned on the internal speaker. Mine are quite noisy. I'm going to clean the electronics and hook it up to my receiver and see what happens. Nice video.

Harbor Freight assortment pack. It’s like seven dollars for a pack of 100 springs. Just modify what’s in there to match and be tighter from what you have. Best of luck let me know how it goes.
