2:53 killing medics (the class in TF2, that is) is not a warcrime, as they are armed, therefore are active combatants. 3:24 No Russian is a crime against humanity, not a warcrime, as it happens outside of a conflict. 4:00 the highway of death was not a warcrime, as there were active combatants in the convoy. a retreating enemy is still a valid target, and he does not stop being one even if he surrounds himself with civilians. This is done to prevent un-scrupulous parties from using civilians as human shields. of course, the arguement about what level of "collateral damage" is acceptable will likely continue until the end of time.

I think one of the best examples is MGS Phantom Pain. The enemies are humanised really well, and if you listen to what they say you'll hear them talking about you (and if they're scared of you) about their family and friends, dreams. I used to kill them for the sake of ease, but once I heard a Russian talking about how much he wants to go home to see his daughter I stopped and thought about my actions. I do understand your point, but I think that having the ability for the player to commit historical genocide just gives genuine scumbags the agency to do it, not to mention the fact that the game would get so much negative attention in the media/online for it. When it's something that happened in real life it hits a bit closer to home than a totally fictional genocide. Also a surefire way to have the game banned in Germany and probably Japan and Australia too lol
