Alvaneu Village
Alvaneu (Romansh: Alvagni) is a former municipality in the district of Albula in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. On 1 January 2015 the former municipalities of Alvaschein, Mon, Stierva, Tiefencastel, Alvaneu, Brienz/Brinzauls and Surava merged to form the new municipality of Albula/Alvra. On 20 March 2007 Peter Martin Wettler, a media expert and resident of Zurich was appointed Prince of Belfort by the village's authorities.
Schmitten Village
Schmitten (Romansh: Ferrera) is a municipality in the Albula Region in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland. Schmitten has an area, as of 2006, of 11.3 km2 (4.4 sq mi). Of this area, 25.1% is used for agricultural purposes, while 57.1% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 1.7% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (16.2%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains). Before 2017, the municipality was located in the Belfort sub-district of the Albula District, after 2017 it was part of the Albula Region. It consists of the linear village of Schmitten which is located at an elevation of 1,280 m (4,200 ft) on the right side of the Albula valley.
Ortsmuseum
The Schmittner local museum brings the time from the 18th to the early 20th century to new life. During a stroll through the multi-layered exhibition, visitors learn how life was played out by young and old in a simple mountain village in Graubünden. The exhibition provides a multi-faceted insight into the handicrafts that were predominant at the time, into peasant work, mining, church tradition and customs in general.
Barockkirche Allerheiligen
The picturesque baroque church of All Saints with magnificent furnishings and the Romanesque chapel of St. Lucius with late Gothic frescos are enthroned above the town. From this church hill one has a memorable view over the Albula valley . From the rectory, built in 1707, you follow the Way of the Cross from 1761, whose Passion paintings have been completely renovated since 1985, up to the cemetery, which surrounds the parish church of All Saints and the Chapel of St. Luzius.
