As a Yemeni, I loved my last 2 visits to Iran. Both of our homelands have ancient civilisation, breathtakingly beautiful mountains, amazing cuisine, and rich poetic heritage. I hope there will be direct flights from Tehran to Sana'a soon 😊 The natural steps that you see in the Haraz mountains are actually terraced mountain farm lands. It helps to create farmlands because it's the terrain is all rugged and elevated. It also guides the rainfall to feed the farms as the rain descends to the valleys.

Funny that you went south to the Arabian peninsula. It is a lovely landscape with different mountains than you find elsewhere. The people seem reserved. Wish you had visited Lebanon before the war begsn. It is the crown jewel of the region. Visually stunning and like travelling back in time. Yemen is an ancient place with an ancient history.
