May be you saw it - the video clip at David's memorial at BB King's, singer ( and Monkees fan from way back), Richard Marx, shared his meeting David Jones at a radio station as a 5 year old in Chicago. He certainly encouraged and inspired a lot of people.

Love this, of course!!! At one point, he looks at the camera and points a bit - just like I remember him doing "live" with me sitting there, close to the stage (at "Kips" in Toledo, Ohio, 1979)!!! Miss him so!!!

Very cool, and a little ironic considering The Monkees history with Don Kirshner, that Dolenz, Jones, Boyce and Hart would appear on late night's syndicated bi-weekly 90 minute Don Kirshner's Rock Concert (1973-198.) Goes to show how immensely popular the program was that top acts would accept scale to appear for the exposure. Time heals all wounds, and DJBH had its The Great Golden Hits of the Monkees tour to promote. Per setlist.fm, June of 1975 through August of 1976 (88 concerts), Dolenz, Jones, Boyce and Hart toured U.S., Japan, Thailand and Singapore.

i share the adoration expressed by other posts. however, something is wrong with our Davy here. He is sweating too much and is not in good voice. this was a guy who had a Broadway voice and a set of pipes that got that job done. whatever the issue, he went on to better performances for sure.

Thank you for your post. I watched a 2nd time to see what you notice. Stage lighting can be bright and hot; an artist's make up doesn't always do its job. I'd be interested to see this concert in its entirety, certainly the Dolenz, Jones, Boyce and Hart performance if they preceded David's here. (Perhaps it was a high energy number which might impact both his appearance and his voice; and maybe they felt between them, the Broadway pro he is, David was best suited to follow?) Certainly David's solo performance here gives his pals, Dolenz, Boyce and Hart a rest. It could be the group wanted to take this opportunity to spotlight David.
