It looks like Davy saves his energy for their concerts, when I saw them at the Greek Theater on Sept. 7, 1986 ( one day after my birthday) they were running, jumping all over the stage at times, Davy REALLY had that audience by the neck and he DOES NOT let go - takes off his white coat and throws it across the stage - running and singing "Valleri!"...

When I watched the show as a child in the 80's, I liked Mike as he was the leader and strong. Peter reminded me of a male version of myself as I felt goofy and shy. However, I have been rediscovering them during lockdown and watching stuff I hadn't seen before. Peter was fabulous. He had such a beautiful smile. I hate thinking that he must have suffered so much when his health failed. He was very brave. RIP
@lindas.51912 жыл бұрын
I still adore Peter to this day. There was so much more to him than met the eye. He was an intellectual, but you couldn't tell because he always clowned around so much. I think it came out when he was doing his solo shows. He was very interesting to listen to. I am so sorry he's gone and hate to think he suffered. RIP you beautiful man. You will be remembered.

I think I have a VHS of this somewhere...this REALLY brings back memories! I became a Monkees fan thanks to their 20th Anniversary Reunion. I remember they were being criticized for being "old;" I guess back then, if a performer was in his/her 40s, he/she was considered old(some performer was mimicking them by singing their theme song and moving a walker, saying, "Why couldn't my mother invent White Out," referring to Mike Nesmith's mother). I was 16 then. I'd thought, "Gosh, I was born too late!" and "I think Davy is trying to fit in with that hairstyle." I'd seen the Monkees perform as a trio 9 times with the energy of men HALF their age. Additionally I saw Davy perform solo twice and met him personally three times in which I got his autograph(and a kiss!)...February 29, 2012 would be a day of absolute shock and heartbreak for me...and I believe those who knew Davy would agree. Since then, I've been unable to go to another Monkees show because to face the realization that Davy won't be there--though I've heard that they use videos of him, but it's not the same--would be even more heartbreaking. I think back to what Micky had said when Mike joined them for the tribute tour right after Davy passed; it was something to the effect of, "I was waiting for Davy...then I realized he wasn't there." Rest in peace, David Thomas Jones.
