My first encounter of Rory and his music was with his band Taste and the "On the Boards" album, which I still have in my collection. I had the pleasure of seeing him live on four occasions and met him once after a gig at Lancaster University UK. Just a great guy and a wonderful guitarist. That said, ive seen you play countless times Davy, often travelling ridiculous mileages in the process! You are so very similar and yet different in many ways. Thank you for the guitar lesson all those years ago, and I look forward to seeing you in Wolverhampton with Gerry and Brendan in 2025 😁

This is a fantastic idea. I've always found influences to be really interesting, regardless of the subject matter. As a Celt myself 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿😉, I have always picked out the folksiness, so to speak, which has drawn me to a band or soloist. I used to really love Thin Lizzy for just this reason. Thank you!

Rory was such an unassuming man. In my youth.....unable to afford the entrance fees at Wolverhampton civic hall. My friend would leave college early and meet the trucks and work our passage into the shows.... And subsequently got to meet our idols. Again Rory was quiet and unassuming....until he hit the stage!!
