One could never imagine Taichi in fight form without such a video. Excellent, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for uploading this! The jian is the main reason I want to start kung fu. I find both it and the forms so beautiful!

The Jian is a really elegant weapon. I like it very much. I did a video collaboration with a Kung Fu KZbinr where he asked me to do a Jian explanation. You can check it out here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jJildKR_hrmIopI

4:05 holy sht i understood the meaning of the names of the movements, some mean parrying, some mean baiting, some mean leaving a clear opening for a final attack. I thought chines japanes foghting was full of vs but ive had an epiphany on this matter and realized the meaning of the movements to its full real life. Movement meaning . Edit: How drunk was i when i wrote this lmao 🤔😂😂😂😂

Main issue with older martial arts is lack of pressure testing, removal from combative context from which they were born, and thus confusion over how they're supposed to work - but from what I can tell, if one can decode what it's supposed to actually be, it becomes clear how it's a functional martial art. Whilst performance martial *arts* are quite nice, I hope that East Asian martial arts can rediscover the *martial* side of their martial arts with suitable protective gear and sparring. Edit: Watching the video myself, I think their techniques are legit, but could stand more intensive sparring with modern sparring gear.

The moves make more sense with an opponent .

1) Do the moves actually slice and pierce flesh and armour? Doubtful...perhaps only few of them. 2) The way you practice becomes the way you move. Tai chi practitioners are completely oblivious about this biological law. As a result they lose most fights since their practice moves are not optimised for combat.

If a teacher abuses their student the teacher has failed on every level. Pain doesn't teach anything, those who inflict it to enforce respect don't deserve to be listened to.
