Why? Powder gangers are people too. In addition, many of them were probably imprisoned unfairly. Don't forget that NCR is corrupt through and through.

You can do it for a pretty interesting early game, at the cost of vilifying Goodsprings and possibly the NCR, but they're kinda fun and give you some good gear to jump-start the run. Sadly, after you do the 3-4 quests they have, the faction basically stops mattering, so you're not losing out on much by not trying to be on their side

@@matteofaccin6636 I recommend the "working on the chaingang" mod for more Powder Gang esque content. It also nerfs the PG infamy ganged from defending Goodsprings just enough to only be shunned so the prison doesn't want to gut you on sight. You get new NPCs and quests to work with on the side.

By the time I usually come here, I've gotten quite a few levels, so I just outright attack the Powder Gangers with no backup aside from my trusty Enclave Eyebot and/or a humanoid companion. And because my Courier was shot in the head and rose from the grave, he is now a Zombie... so he eats all the Powder Gangers at the correctional facility - sometimes mid-battle to really scare them (at least theoretically, I don't think I've seen anyone react to Fallout characters eating corpses openly).
