For those who like that workflow, go make some researches about A Guy Called Gerald. There are some very cool videos about him building track live and on the fly

Hey, thanks for this video. I was wandering if somebody know: can the same way be done with Jx3p internal sequecner (skip steps instead of triggering an arpeggio) Thank you

Reminds me of Drexciya - Black Sea, and some Aril Brikha tracks. But then I suppose the SH-101 is all over soooo many records.

Question. When you bring in the different drum parts on the tr808, i notice you use the volume trim knobs to do so, but is there also mute and unmute capabilities on the tr808 , to bring the drum parts in?

Never gets old. Got some analog gear but nothing vintage. Recently bought a MPC LIVE 2 to run DAW-less. Main synths are Subsequent37 M32 and DFAM. Also got a Karp Odyssey a.o.

@@mikehydropneumatic2583 This drum trigger in trick works for that DFAM sequencer too. Doing it with the rd8 for 4 bars of rhythmic variety. Lovely stuff!

would love to see a more in-depth version of this filling in the blanks for someone just starting out. nearly all synth videos skip the basics and leave me lost,

@@Conforce hi thank you for t reply, I really enjoyed your video, I did manage to work out some of the basics from watching the ‘A Guy Called Gerald plays analogue in his studio’, Video here on KZbin, then I stumbled across your video, but I really can’t find any other videos or links to understand it better, and really feel in the dark. have been looking for some time for more links , but not found anything good via Google, but I’m not a musician, and probably don’t know the right terminologies to search. Been looking for about 2 years for any good KZbin videos but no luck, I keep getting lost and confessed and packing it all away as I don’t know anyone musically minded or technically savvy (the people in my circle are artists, not musicians, so don’t really have anywhere to ask the right questions). Any pointers in the right direction to any guides, especially if they’re visual guide. Doesn’t seem to be any for absolute amateurs like myself, I guess most musicians find this kind of thing natural, but I still find it very alien, a complete different language, but still trying to learn and keep coming back,

I would love to know, is this somehow possible (triggering) with software plugins within Ableton?

did you ever find out?

worst part about doing this is having to always stop/start the sequence on the same step otherwise lose the cycle of the sequence.

Great video thanks! I like doing this with my TR-8 and SH101. I send the 909 Rim Shot out of external out B and the signal is hot enough to trigger the synth. So fun and funky. I didn't know you could add more notes to the end of the sequence, thanks for the tip ; )

I believe you can or is that me dreaming? The sh01a does it

After watching this for the third time. I have two questions regarding this sequencing method: 1) When you use the cowbell for instance to trigger the SH-101, do you "give up" the use of the cowbell to be heard in your track? 2) When triggering the sh-101, do you just put one step of cowbell at the beginning of a bar in the TR-808 And that triggers the sequence programmed in the sh-101? Or do you have to add as many cowbell steps in the TR-808 to trigger as many notes as you want played from the sh-101? Thanks! Happy Holidays
@Conforce2 жыл бұрын
I think the sound trig sound source is still present. Basically an active step is the next step of the sequence if I understand well… that is the fun factor for me, it did something at first that I didn’t understand well. Happy holidays bad well!
