How the actual shit do I automate pitch bend in ableton with this thing? I love astra but I’m kind of stupid and I for the life of me can figure out how to automate pitch bend. I currently don’t have any sort of midi keyboard so I have to do all my pitch bending through automation.

things u could improve on: 1. dont use AI for the description 2. Put different melodies in the song, currently it is just one track and it's kinda boring 3. vocals 4. make it a song instead of something you would put into a movie overall w editing and w beat but you need to add more stuff as what you have rn is the backbone or basis but u need instruments, vocals, other stuff

SH-09 is a great synth to be sure. I used to have an SH-2, which was awesome. I now have an SH-101 which I prefer to the older models because of the mixable waveforms and the sequencer / arpeggiator. The keyboard feels a lot better too and I just think it’s just more enjoyable to interact with overall. You said the 101 sounds “cleaner” which I disagree with. I don’t think there’s that much of a difference between the sonic character of the smaller SH models. Have you played a 101? Definitely worth checking out if you haven’t.

@kgbinfo got both yes! Maybe it's the pwm on the older models that sounds a bit grittier

3:58 With Time the VST will likely improve. Roland has released V2 versions of Jupiter 8, Juno 60, Juno 106, Jx-3p synths that have Circuit Mod knobs so you can scroll through plenty of slightly different tunings of the circuitry, and together with the Condition knob you can make them sound "more analog" than OG hardware or whatever you want out of them. So if or when there is a V2 of the JV-1080 it might have the improvements it needs.

I had the JD800 and still have the JD990 and then picked up the JV1080 to house the extra cards I had since the JD990 only had room for one (I put the Analog card in there). Anyway the JV1080 really blew me away, it really fits in everything I do. I struggle more to get the JD990 to fit in a mix and find I have to EQ it lot.

Hey, thanks for this video. I was wandering if somebody know: can the same way be done with Jx3p internal sequecner (skip steps instead of triggering an arpeggio) Thank you

There is zero reason to get the hardware, now that the VST version exists. It's literally the same architecture, code, presets in the VST version, except that THERE IS NO NEED FOR MENU DIVING on a small screen. Why on earth would you get the hardware?
@Conforce
@Conforce 4 ай бұрын
because you have no clue what it sounds like. spend some time with it. it's coloring, dimension, paying a bit of attention to it will make you believe... at the same time.. i use both. the again, use what you prefer.. i don't like the interface of the plugin. it's a fucking nightmare and windows 95 style. i'd rather stick to the interface.
@Conforce
@Conforce 4 ай бұрын
architecture isn't the same as coloring... yes it's a digital synth but what gives it just this little bit of extra character is exactly the conversion and bit of gaining etc etc.. arturia did exactly the same with the esq80 on a plugin.. does it sound the same ???? NO
@Conforce
@Conforce 4 ай бұрын
and take note.. the software version DOES NOT BLEND IN my mixes... it just drowns... the hardware has a bit more presence in a total mix... learn and practice.

@@Conforce This is typical esoteric 'analog warmth' nonsense, except for a digital synth lmaooooo. I guarantee you if the same patches are played from the vst, and from the hardware, and routed though the same interface into your headphones, you can't tell them apart with meaningful accuracy in a blindfold test. Second of all. You dislike the vst interface *more* than endless menu-diving on a screen size of a pencil, and a single knob? That's insane bruh. Just be straight with it and say you like owning hardware for the sake of owning hardware. That's fine. But all this unscientific "I swear it has some mystical coloring bro bc it's in a metal box bro, I swear bro" needs to stop.

@@Conforce hi thank you for t reply, I really enjoyed your video, I did manage to work out some of the basics from watching the ‘A Guy Called Gerald plays analogue in his studio’, Video here on KZbin, then I stumbled across your video, but I really can’t find any other videos or links to understand it better, and really feel in the dark. have been looking for some time for more links , but not found anything good via Google, but I’m not a musician, and probably don’t know the right terminologies to search. Been looking for about 2 years for any good KZbin videos but no luck, I keep getting lost and confessed and packing it all away as I don’t know anyone musically minded or technically savvy (the people in my circle are artists, not musicians, so don’t really have anywhere to ask the right questions). Any pointers in the right direction to any guides, especially if they’re visual guide. Doesn’t seem to be any for absolute amateurs like myself, I guess most musicians find this kind of thing natural, but I still find it very alien, a complete different language, but still trying to learn and keep coming back,

I sound create using a similar workflow, except I don't have a digitone, so use my Model-Cycles with Organelle for bass and my Nord Drum 3P and add the drums via my 7 pads, 6 on the D3P and I have an original Clavia Ddrum Cast-Precision pad from my DDrum 4SE for kick with a Pearl double pedal. It works for me, but then I am a drummer 😉

I got mine for a 50 bag after my mate got it for $50 at a pawn shop in '93. It needs a service, which is why I stumbled across this video I was gonna see if I could do it myself, and I might try and tackle a bit of a clean of the pots etc, but I think I'm gonna take it to get a proper bespoke service next week. Think it might need a power supply too. Shouldn't be any more than $250. I had no idea these were going for as high as three grand though. I know it's not a 303 or 101, but it's still pretty sweet to have one of those, "got it for 50 bucks at a pawn shop" stories. . Ol mate giving zero fucks about what he had, what he could potentially make in profit(I can assure you he DID understand its value), and doing me a solid that I still shout him a beer for to this day when I see him, gives it a distinctive Aussie twist...
