Nice job on the video, your very fast on that MPC live. I am fairly new at it. Just picked up a Keylab 88 to hook up with it. I write in the styles of classic rock with influences of jazz, fusion and blues. I am watching videos to learn the best way to match these machines to suit my creative workflow.

Hi there, do you know if it's possible to play a wav sample chromatically, like it was an instrument? I've just got a MPC Live and can't figure out if it possible. Would be useful for single cycle waveforms. Hope you can help!

Jazz Bwooy hi there, like Dawless Jammin I also returned mine, as for a number of reasons I decided it wasn't for me. However, unlike Dawless Jammin I'm gonna stick with DAWs and trackers... sometimes you need to try something different to remind yourself what you like. For me it's using computers.

i dont own the mpc live, but on previous mpcs you would just use the 16 levels function and set it to tuning. I think the same procedure would be possible on the live aswell

Thank you for your helpful video. Could you tell if there is a simple way to tune all the synths, pads, pianos etc. sounds lets say 4 Hz up, since by default they all set to A 440hz standard tuning, and I want them all A 444hz ?

I’m just looking for a live beat machine that can loop (my own samples), so I can then play guitar and sing over. I don’t particularly need all the other features this has... any cheaper alternatives? Standalone is something I need however as I can’t risk taking my maxed out laptop into the messy bars I play in. Would appreciate any advice, thanks!

The OP-1 by Teenage Engineering.
@johnthecloud7 жыл бұрын
You might be better off with a looper like the Boss RC505. It can hold about three hours of music, and has 5 stereo loops per song. You can also have 99 songs. Depends on how complicated you want to get, and whether you are creating beats on the fly, or just playing them back. The Boss RC505 is about a third of the price of the MPC Live.

What if I wanna use the MPC as a synth into another DAW like Reaper
@padlockbeats1517 жыл бұрын
This is NOT using a mpc as a synth.. What I do is sample my gold, chop by note, set each sample to ping pong loop, note off, filter, tune, play to taste. Peace

Sorry if I missed it but: how would one send their unique synth sounds to the MPC? Instead of controlling the MPCs synth.
@Shannonbarnesdr17 жыл бұрын
well mpcs and midi instruments are synths. they are still a type of synthesizer and in the synth family, they make synthetic or syntheized instrument sounds and they are electronic powered instruments

This is awesome. Have you tried using the OP-1 as the midi-controller on the MPC Live? I'm really curious to know how the synergy is between this and the OP-1, as I'm planning on getting an MPC Live, next week.
@christopheroloughlin14237 жыл бұрын
Nice, I've been looking for sound examples of the MPC instruments. They sound great, thanks! Have you tried running some of the instruments through onboard filters and envelopes for even deeper expressions? If the Live is capable of this I may not be able to resist.

From your arturia software? you cant put the software in the mpc, if that's what you're asking. But it comes with some built in sounds like synths and pianos.
@khalilroukoz3 жыл бұрын
yeah That's what i figured my arturia is just a controller, and the sounds its uses is from analog lab software on PC, I can just use sounds it after the fact in daw! Thanks much!!

I have beatmaker3 on an ipad and find it to be the best in order to catch sketches and ideas when on the move plus the ableton export function is very practical if you use ableton. This here looks like a better version of my setup cause it is hardware and i don`t have to be afraid of how hard i hit the pads and also pads feel better. Need to think about his Mpc. A nice machine. And nice demo
@drspoton45797 жыл бұрын
I hope those stock synths sound better than that, where are the atmosphere , string and acoustic guitar sounds
@MattGreerMusic7 жыл бұрын
You are using samples chromatically, same as a rompler keyboard. Your machine here is pitching your samples to varying notes. I'm going to guess that the root of each sample, before being played chromatically, was a true C note. Then you are just telling the sampler/playback to logically pitch shift the root C to the other notes. It then functions like a keyboard but this is not the same thing as synthesis. Still a useful demonstration of the functionality.

The man part is calling out the commonality between all the people correcting the creator of the video. The info you provided wasn't helpful. They said "using the MPC as a synth" not "using the synth feature of the MPC". I think this person knows what they're doing. Think twice before you think you're correcting someone.

and how is this not a daw in a box ? i don't see the point tbh..
@JAdeWii_7 жыл бұрын
It's a studio center piece and you cant check your email or go on fb with it hehe. But in all reality, yes it is an arranger, a powerful one. I see it at the end of my studio chain. I wont start songs with it, but jam on my other gear then when im ready to record a songs i can go there and multitrack. It's not for everyone, specially if you use a daw already, but if you don't this is a good alternative :)
@jimshannononsounds7 жыл бұрын
Its not really a synth but a midi controller. Any daw can do pretty much the same thing. I'd really like to get this but so far I haven't seen any compelling reason to buy this thing I can already do in Cubasis on my iPad. Its a good video though.
@jandehaan79447 жыл бұрын
No it is not. It is a standalone, which, is totally different than a midi controller. Any DAW can do the same thing, but you need a computer/ipad, soundcard and content. And a mouse. And be distracted by social media. Output is the same but people want a closed portable environment. No other one solution box can: - sample directly inside the box - play warped clips - live looper for external instruments - sequence 32 midi channels - send midi CC to external gear - record audio tracks - be played as an instrument with external keybord - configurable mixer - internal effects - and be a controller at the same time
@JAdeWii_7 жыл бұрын
Agree! The same playback is soo solid! even the moog samples impressed me a bit, and i own a little phatty.
@ForSynthsSake7 жыл бұрын
I have the Octatrack but am mulling over similar questions. I think the Akai has enough storage to store bucket loads of samples (thus inheriting an external synths sound samples) and I am guessing it just has 8 tracks but enough flexibility to draw down those samples along the timeline as and when. I almost purchased one but decided to wait and let the hardware bugs surface and get corrected first. It looks a great machine and thank you to Dawless for making the video and to the contributors to the channel too.
@jimshannononsounds7 жыл бұрын
So far nobody has been able to tell me if clips can be launched independently of a track. I'd like to see how our hostess handles Deluge. This thing is a beast. I like the promise of MPC Live, its just the rubber pads turn me off.
@ForSynthsSake7 жыл бұрын
Deluge looks attractive, I think I will definitely wait as these things are very price sensitive so whilst its in high demand itll be expensive but that will wear off in time and maybe by black friday some good deals will be had. I shall turn my eye to the novation peak I think.
