Here I am on the other side of world (Sydney, Australia) learning about a project I knew nothing about in a place I most likely will never visit and I am fascinated! Your videos are better than any of the construction/engineering shows you see on television with mindless narration and endless recapitulation with largely pointless graphics etc. Absolutely fantastic work, not only the project but your insightful and beautifully produced videos. Thanks!

Yes, that is some impressive progress in eight days and some key milestones also planned for in the near future. I do hope that the extra work introduced by planning will make a real noticeable benefit to the final project. Like other comments, I would very much like to see phase 4 and eventually the Holcombe sea wall project.

Phase 4 should be interesting ,one question for you guys-in time what with high tides and storms sand levels on the beach will mount up against the new sea wall !will you have people clearing the sand away to make it harder for the sea to rush over like it has in the past ? Thought I'd throw that out there .tell what though it's been wonderful to watch these videos as I live down in Camborne........keep up the good and all of you keep safe 🤗🙂

It's remarkable what's being done here. Certainly something to be proud of if you've been working on it. I know someone who has been at the sharp end of building Crossrail and he seems to love just watching people actually use it while thinking 'I helped make this'. The same must apply here. Definitely carry the series on into Phase 4 and if there's a Phase 5 after that.

I had walked past all of this earlier this week when I had been staying down in Dawlish and can see this is definitely an interesting project. I had spent seven and a half years with BAM until I had left there in 2019. Despite all of this work, it still remains the only rail route into the South West and no signs that the Okehampton to Tavistock ink is ever going to be built as an alternative route.

I love the clean lines and strength in the design of the whole sea wall project. Very interesting once again. I am rather surprised that the tides are still expected to still come up under the railway bridge? Surely it would have been better to prevent this still happening. It also means of course that a goodly amount of beach will also be washed up! Another question is, are there any preventative measures to stop people/children walking up the water course and under the bridge? The "old rusty bridge" happens to be an original GWR structure . Not sure if it is listed. Great video once again. Be nice if subscribers could get exclusive video of it all from start to finish Neil, just an idea.

It's the first result I get for "dawlish sea wall network rail", but it can also be found by searching for 'Dawlish Sea Wall' internally on Network Rail's website. I believe that the railway was put in by Brunell. So they won't get rid of anything, that they don't need to replace, as it's all got history that might help attract tourists to the area. But, you can clearly see, from old clips of storms, that Brunell had zero idea that climate change would be coming to attack what he built here, and that we need some modern stuff to back up what was put in.

Gruesome concrete monstrosity. Probably necessary to preserve the coastal route but utterly incongruous with the landscape and out of character with the Dawlish ambience.
