The Cornish Coastal Pullman through Dawlish - Class 47's

A full day out from Wolverhampton and Tame Bridge to Penzance. The train was double-headed by two LSL Class 47 locomotives 47593 which is named Galloway Princess and 47614 plus eleven Pullman luxury coaches.
The train set off at 5.09am and arrived at Penzance at 1pm After 2 hours in Penzance to stretch their legs the train started the return journey at 3pm and is due to reach Wolverhampton at 11.30pm tonight. It sounds quite an endurance test with 16½ hrs for a 2 hour visit!

Also noted that the head badge on 47593 on the return trip says "The Statesman". It was easy to read there at the end when the train was going slow due to the yellows.

Does it really take 2x Class 47s to pull that train or was the second loco just for insurance?

Wow, poor driver, that signal right at the end stepped up to a double yellow after the cab had passed under it.

Rolling stock from various era Pullmans, re bogied to modern standards, nice and slow around that bend, was it to prevent the champagne glasses from toppling over? One restored, when completed, Pullman will never come to the West Country, the Brighton Belle as third rail electric multi car units. Might make it to Exeter though as Southern has or had a service from Waterloo.

One mk1 kitchen car on commonwealth bogies the rest are mk2 so not vintage stock but from 60s and 70s good coaches fit for another 30 years
