For reference, the Swarmlord left the Ultramarines' Chapter Master limbless during the First Tyranic War.

Which might be a good thing it doesn’t happen more because this one didn’t do it for me. The concept isn’t doomed. In the original Starcraft, the Overmind voice was amazing. Not that the voice acting should copy, but just it could conceivably be more creepy or intimidating or something other than whatever this was. I loved that they included playable Tyranids, but it felt like their campaign was the most rushed and least developed in terms of that voice, the plot, unique interactions, etc.

That would be Paul Dobson the voice of Gabriel Angelos who also narrates the Tyranid Campaign. Sadly they got some smuck to play Gabriel in the non canon Dawn of War 3 because they don't know good voice acting or writing from what they wipe their asses with Relic.

Might seem bad but I'd love if the Hive Mind spoke more in 40k. Not too often but there's a way to do it with good writing and along with the Tyranids constantly adapting. It would certainly shock the hell out of the other races that's for sure.

I read a short story about a group of Space Marine Neophites boarding an unknown object in space, not realising it's a dormant Hive Ship. One of the Neophites has psychic abilities and can feel the hunger emanating from the vessel like a million voices inside his head. Was done really well and was really creepy to think about

@JAMBUILDER08 They absorp other lifeforms through biomass. It's very plausible the Hive Mind went "Tyranids. Not a bad idea. Let's go with that."
@SassyCassie89 Жыл бұрын
Would the tyranid hive mind really call its self "tyranids"? Thought they were called that because the first planet the were discovered on was called Tyran, makes sense if imperials use that term. Actually the fact it speaks as if talking to another is wrong too surly it should be " i must spawn more" not "spawn tyranids".
@kentreed2011 Жыл бұрын
I just commented that before reading your comment, I noticed as soon as I heard that line and yes, it's wrong since Tyranids don't even care about giving themselves a name like why would they even need one? They're a hive mind. My best guess is that they made it name itself and talk as if it was talking to someone due to gameplay reasons.
