Captain shack! You can deep strike in reaver titans by putting them into a stormlord baneblade, then put the baneblade into the mars pattern command. Deploy the tank and unload the titan. Creed would be proud.

The metal husk I am encased in is shaking and buckling as we prepare our assault, by now the entire empire has heard of the massacre that took place the last time we encountered the necrons. The emperor sees this as a way to avenge those that fell in the last battle, were taking the fight to the Necrons home, if you can call it that, its some barren tomb world, but its a dangerous, unforgiving place, even the most cautious of gaurdsmen find themselves surrounded by Necrons whose mangled corpses lie just beneath the surface looking for thier next victims. The guy next to me cant stop shaking and whimpering, I cant blame him, were all scared, its seems like just a week ago I was back home, working the farm, I was even about to propose to my girl. Until they drafted me and put me through hell in bootcamp, just to rush into the fray as nothing less than cannon fodder, but I have to keep hope, I have to hang on to the idea that I'll be walking away from this fight a hero, but of what will remain of me afterwards, we will have to find out, one thing for certain, I will be walking away with scars, but none of them are going to be physical. The field commander is telling us to brace for impact, but before he can finish, we crash into the earth. The thick, heavy, metal doors and windows raise, and the blinding light, and blistering heat comes waving in. We charge out of the bunker and into the rotting desert, I say this because it looks as if the sand itself were decomposing, I suppose it was the blood of those before us who tried to fight these metal bastards. The General, wants us to secure as much ground as possible, and prepare to hold, before the damn awakening starts, learning from past mistakes he wants to try a new approach. My squad was tasked to take the bridge in the center of the battle field, at first all had seemed quite, then there it was ... a loud, creaking, clanging sound, we set up for attack thinking it was a small one, but when his ugly head appeared over the bridge we realized, we were looking at a lord, we quickly retreated, and secured the right flank, we set up a defensible front, by deploying turrets, tank traps, and mines. Our only mission was to hold out until armor could be brought in to break though thier lines. The Necrons made thier first advance, It was a hard fight, we couldn't trust any of them to stay down, thats the problem with Necrons you look away one second and thier back up trying to tear out your throat. We held the line surprisingly, even disabled the lord for the time being, then thier was cheering from the boys as the loud booms erupted from the artillery on top the hill, we even secured the bridge. That is until the necrons went around the left flank, all men were called to the fight , even the general showed up tearing his way through the moving metal wall, the Necrons may have endless waves,but the empire has a certain will to survive. During the battle thier lord was resurrected, he came around to aid his minions push, I watched as he slaughtered any who came into his path, I tried to save them, but he he grasped me by the throat, with his elongated, rusty, claws he stared into my eyes as he jabbed his other hand into my chest, he watched as the life slowly drained from me, then cast me aside, to continue his rampage. Even now I lay slowly dying, my blood adding to the rotting sand, I pray to the emperor, as I close my eyes for the eternal sleep, a smile touches my lips as I realize that its the one thing the Necrons can never have, death, so I lay waiting to be engulfed by the cold darkness as it creeps into view, I hold thoughts of the ones I love, as my body goes limp, and my mind disconnects from reality, embracing death. Knowing that I can peacfully rest.

Captain, in case you did not know: You can set a building's 'combat stance' to "Stand Ground" and any unit built by that building will automatically be put into "Stand Ground" as well.

yeah, guardsmen are definitely my go-to unit, especially in the campaign. (which is kinda funny to say cause all I've played so far is the guardsmen in the campaign) EDIT: btw, any tips for vanilla imp guardsmen?

@@brettdibble2763 don't know if you're still looking for advice, but I've found that for Vanilla Soulstorm, Ogryns supported by ranged units are a really nice way to tie up enemy units until your soldiers kill them. Ogryns have a decent pool of health and any unit that can engage the CPU in melee will usually keep them there till one side dies.

Hey Shack if you upgrade your defensive turrets they become really deadly with longer range and faster fire rate, also if you make some of them anti-vehicle you can upgrade those to plasma turrets.

Shack, you know that you can garrison your Baneblades in the Mars Pattern Command and the drop them anywhere on the map. Also, considering that you like to break things from extreme range, why not give the Tau a go? A line of Broadsides and Fire warriors would make one hell of a thumbnail.

Shack, the EMP round upgrade specifically says, works against living metal it looked like. Also, remember your tanks had all anti infantry weapon loadouts, you can upgrade the leman russ sponson guns to lascannons or something similar. if this version doesnt allow that, build the variants in the tank command, they are much more effective at their specific jobs.

I've read that the reason behind the resource decay (capture points do it too) is to discourage the kind of turtling that you exhibited here.

problem is guard is made for turtling untill late game then going out in armour, its the main reason why the infantry doctrine is SOO shit then the atrillery doctrine is secondond best, air doctrine is 3rd best but tank docrtine is DA king. So by discouraging turtling your basily making the guard weaker. and with there tanks there best thinga being bad too aswell as bad infantry and a lil inaccurate artillery tputs the guard in a weak spot compared too other races.

Here's a tip I learned with the guard you can put karskins into infiltration and cease fire so you can plant a satchel charge on enemy defenses while going unnoticed

As an Astra Militarum fan myself, I didn't see enough entrenching. Not enough turrets, not enough artillery, not enough tanks, not enough walls/tank traps. Not even a Stormhammer, or two! You ALWAYS get the Stormhammer.

On the Tabletop Conscripts are awesome! I play Guard and we are one of two races, that can take Infantry for 3 points a model. Conscripts and gretchins and grots are much worse! Conscripts if used properly can hail down 200 lasgun shots a turn on the enemy and most importantly keep meelee inf away from your more expensive units. Its a very important Unit for every Guard commander.

Oh oh oh by the way Shack Medusas are so much better than Basilisks. Weirdly enough, they have a longer range than a Basilisk, and while they're rediculously inaccurate, just a battery of about 5 of them will make up for that. They also have an amazing rate of fire, and can be fitted with incendiary shells.

shack if you want a real challenge as the IG then add the addon: fallback rule it makes it so if your morale breaks your squad turns back to the nearest strategic location, making early game extremely difficult.

Semi-Smart Gaming I always choose that rule. It makes morale so much more important. Also, the Conscripts become completely useless unless you put a Commissar in there. That's the way they're supposed to be played anyway.

Not really, save commisars for real squads, your meant too use conscripts as front line meat shields for all your other units and you use umm too clog enemies into melee combat and spam reinforce um, putting a commisar in there might help um but its honestly a waste your better of using your commisar to stop your Norm imperisal guard from breaking morale, so rthat option completely nulifies the actually use of conscripts, btw this is also the main used for conscripts on table top, you would be surpised how many times my brothers stopped my advance as chaos by simply locking my units into close combat with mass conscripts while the other units are focusing on more important targets.

It is so cool and it is not quite like other games were you just put army after army against each other and hope that your army wins it is so much more detailed and complex, but it is complex in the way that forces you to customize your army to counter the other to be victorious and there are so many just little things that makes this game great I know this is a very long way to say pls play more of this game but i jut want you to know that so many people love this game.(P.S if you are still recruiting for fighter people than can you pls add me as jay who was one of the fighters in your season 2 that had manged to hyperspace into deep space who was then lost for several years before finding his way back to the republic and signing up to be a fighter pilot once again) i hope you see this shack, have a nice day and stay causal.

Your actual interest in the game is apparent but you need to focus on having more units on the field. Especially with IG it's all about drowning them in bodies. More often than not you let your resources get too high with no spending or tech. But you have gained a new sub!

in the tabletop they are effective... If you have a lot of them. I cant quote for other stores or America, but at our store, they can go up to 100 size but only hit and wound on 6's. By comparison, the gretchins get 50 people, hit on 5 and 6 and wound on 6. They get no special weapons, just a combat knife and a pistol. The conscripts, however, get for every 10 guards, a special and heavy weapon and they can both use transports like vehicles.

I know you aren't the best Shack, but if you don't build more barracks and Vehicle Depots, your pop cap will be too small to fight at that size. That's why the AI slaps the damn things everywhere
