Imperial Guard infantry is actually pretty good when you upgrade them and give them special weapons. Biggest squad size, you can give them five grenade launchers that behave more like mortars, upgrade their range..... It takes a LONG time, but at least in vanilla, they can get pretty deadly.

Oh, and for anybody that cares, they changed the default vehicles in this mod too. The regular Chimera is now one of the best land transports possible, it's faster than the assault version and not as wimpy as it was originally. Hellhound and Sentinel variants are pretty awesome too.

Which is why I usually play the Space Marines. At least my squads last for a good while. Well to be fair, I'm using the unorthodox IG tactic of NOT throwing away my troops. I almost never make conscripts and when I do, it's to reinforce my more expensive units with meat shields. Other than that, I use the more expensive infantry and upgrade them heavily and watch them rip the enemy apart.

I'm not even 5 minutes in, and I have to say Shack's description of the IG Conscripts, "Bob the Farmer, with a flak vest", is fairly accurate. In reality Bob gets a hand-me-down gun, boots that are two sizes too small, unlike the rest of the uniform, which is one size too big, and he may OR may not get that flak vest. Oh and if he loses the gun, at any time, or if its not maintained proplery, he WILL be flogged. Unless the offence occurs on the battlefield, in which case, at battle's end, he WILL be shot.

kas-er-kin: also known as stormtroopers, are the elite infantry of the imperial guard. Widely considered over trained and equipped for their roles they exist only because the inquisition requires infantry they can trust, the stormtroopers are the cast offs of that process, not good enough to be trusted in the inquisition and thus handed over to the guard as a spec ops unit.

Xp gamers, If you hold shift and issue orders you can set order ques. So you could tell a squad to capture two relic points without ordering the squad to capture the next after capturing the first.

Shack what would you say if there was a game where a lot of SI-FI universe where implemented together in an RTS game. Like where I can play the UNSC while I fight the Borg or the imperium and fight the Empire. All would be balanced in as if fighting the their cannon enemies. For an example of infantry unites UNSC: UNSC Marines Imperium: imperial guardsmen Alliance: Alliance Soldiers Galactic Empire: Storm troopers Republic: Clone troopers The Dominion (from Starcraft): Terran marines Covenant: Grunt Lance Titian hierarchy: Tyrian marines Zerg: Zerglings

you really cant... I mean you could try, but then nothing would be canon. Star Trek will win any fight because they operate on "false" physics laws. The standard sub-light speed of a standard federation ship is about 1/2 light speed. The dish on the front of the enterprise ships is used to deflect asteroids and other objects that would damage the ship at both warp and sub-warp. I'm a fan of about ALL science-fiction and I personally Like BSG more, but the entire colonial AND cylon fleets at the height of their military might would be crushed by a single federation frigate, because all BSG weapons are projectile based, which is blocked by the dish, they can't go ANYWHERE near as fast, and could never escape, even after a FTL jump, as the range is smaller, and Nukes are blocked by the federation shields.. Same for UNSC against Federation. Star Wars has a chance because of shields and energy weapons, but are hopelessly out classed in speed. That's not favoritism, it's just pure numbers from each of the different canons. You have to take things like that into consideration when you try to plan these things, or debate them... I learned the hard way.

Well what I meant is if it took 5 federation soldiers to take out a Borg soldier than it would take 5 UNSC soldiers. Gameplay for space battles would work the same way meaning one Borg cube would take on an UNSC fleet but not a Forerunner fortress-class ship due to the cannon of it being way stronger than the UNSC Infinity and covenant ships. I'm saying take all that makes sense and throw it out the door so one BSG soldier can take on one Storm trooper. Other wise the Forerunner would always win due to there almost impenetrable shields and Hard-light weapon and slip space ability.

sithalo For example one of the laws of physics is an object in motion stays in motion unless acted on by another object/force. star wars ships go to light speed but don't have an engine to act against it so there's no reason for an star wars ship to stop in space or slow down because they don't have an engine to stop it. But it does it anyway.

Yeah, I've noticed that the Nids seem to love blowing up power plants. What you want to do is have two separate blocks of power, so that they have to choose one or the other to bomb. Otherwise, you've gotta stick a builder unit nearby to repair them all the time.

good vid its awesome that more stuff from tabletop has been incorporated into DoW, it did hurt a bit with lack of knowledge of the imperial guard troops (however i do play IG in tabletop so a bit of bias), in particular using incorrect leman russ variants, however this was a showcase and i dont expect things to be exactly the same as in tabletop. Good work :)

Having played this game a bit, if you look at around 3 minutes in, the blue things in the ground are the his Necron Lore and his Destroyer Lord. Let me put it this way, the Necrons aren't invading, they're WAKING UP AND ARE CRAWLING UP OUT OF THE GROUND.

How do I get this to work? I just downloaded the mod from moddb, when I open the game it has the Ultimate Apocalypse opening screen and has it written in the upper left corner. But when I play it, it's still runs as vanilla. I have it on steam aswell if that helps

Ultimate Apocalypse mod is pretty sweet, I recommend trying it and in my opinion its the best considering it incorporates other elements of previous mods my other modders. (With said approvals of course)
