I'd argue that Relic should do a fresh take on DoW... But with CoH mechanics (principally weapon facings and cover mechanics). There would be some jiggery-pokery to include the OTT 40K weapons and things but I'd play it!

Reminds me of a other mod Only War which had the same factions but the mods there were a bit of a jerks and they ended up dumping it and made a imperial tau mod for C&C Generals. Let's just say that mod was rather incomplete. I think the faction choice was bad. I mean take the path of least resistance for these mods. Empire makes great Imperium. The Zahn Consortium and corruption mechanic fit Chaos with its theme, as for Rebels they look like they can make a great Eldar faction with their raids and subversive mechanics. We can make a lot of the indeginous NPCs Orks, and as for Necrons, all the abandon structures could be Necrons strcutures.

I like Dawn of War as it is. UA is cool, but it really changes the gameplay and is definitely not for everyone. The sheer amount of options make it really difficult to balance and I just find it a bit unenjoyable to sit and play for more then a game or two.

@@ignaciotaborda6538 You sure? If you're referring to Kais the third disciple of puretide it's confirmed it's not the same person and Kais being the word Skilled is a fairly common fire warrior name! IIRC Kais at the end of FireWarrior is likely destroyed along with the suspected planet (assuming the orders are correct) Also if we follow the lore, at least with Farsight Puretide picks them up as prodegies and Kais whilst he survives his trial by fire, and at least survives the game that we see.. isn't a prodegy.

The Ethereals have strong pheromones that influence other Tau to be subservient. That's why Farseer's lore is that after going so many years without an Ethereal attached to his army, he was suddenly able to realize that their natural "air of authority" is something engineered.

Pheromones wouldn't work in space or for Tau in suits or even standart infantry as they use airtight suits. I would think it's more like radio waves or micro waves, as these can be made by the crystal like organ they have in the forehead, as that is how you make radio waves making a crystal vibrate.

@@fanusobscurus Already thought about that, but that would mean they could and needed to "milk" it, and have a dedicated group going around refilling suits and not talk about it to others. Not to mention how much would be needed pr. day for a ship of 2000, even if it was only for injections directly and 0.2 milliliters are needed that's still 2 liters needed pr. day, if it last all day. And if we are talking airborne, as they normally are, then we need the volume of the internal space ship, and calculate how dense the pheromones need to be to be working. And that makes new trouble as now you need to be sure the whole ship has a perfect cover, you can't have places that are less covert. And pheromones also does not explain why in lore Tau sometimes revert back, or change their minds, only a short time after they lost their Ethereal. If it was pheromones in the suits and ships the internal supply should keep them moving. And there is also stories that they will fight even harder if the lose a Ethereal, this again makes little sense unless they are link with them at the time, as the pheromones don't change in the suits upon the death of a leader. Where as again radio waves would change in a instant, and the lack of them would wear of overtime and sometimes even faster than others depending on range and exeposer. So that would explain the inconsistency with the time difference in the stories about Tau losing their leaders. Again it's only my theory. And I also suspect the Tau to be the result of the Void Dragon meddling around with them to make the Ethereal to begin with.

Yeah the Tau have no psykers, psychic abilities come from the warp (like magic in warhammer fantasy), and the Tau have not been touched by the warp as of yet, their FTL ships don't even use the warp like most races.

It's likely that the Aun'va are a caste born with a low-level psychic pulse that soothes the more savage tendencies in the other T'au castes, like a very low-scale version of Tyranid control over 'Gaunt level units. this would explain why both tend to become hyper aggressive an animalistic as soon as that lead unit presence is severed.

the army painter is why I have 2 Leman Russ tanks/2 Chimeras that are blue(saw a blue T-72 in one of my uncle's modeling magazines), played around in the painter to make it work - the tanks are Vanquishers, as a Wisconsinite I thought "Wisconsin deer hunter's approach to armored warfare." blue and black cammo on infantry looks good too.

From what I gather, some of the team (mainly doing the modelling and animating work) felt that they were being underappreciated and disrespected by the mod's founder. They put in a lot of work trying to get a major release ready while the founder, ignoring the work and suggestions of some of the team, went and did his own thing.

In the first Farsight novel the character Aun'va (highest ranking Ethereal/defacto leader) orders a water caste tau to slit her throat on the spot for him. She does without question and without thought. The water caste member isn't even suicidal since in the brief time she has in the story the character is very self serving and career driven, hoping to climb rank. So Ethereals might be secret psykers or using pheromones to control their race, neither would be surprising. Update: I mean the death of an Ethereal pretty much causes a psychic backlash on the remaining tau forces, takes them a day or so to snap out of it/get over it.

that is caused by a problem on your end most likely the 4g patch not working make sure you launch it only from the mod loader and insure the patch is running and you should have less crashes when playing with more than one enemy

Shack must not have watched a lot of Gundam Wing. Briand Drummond voiced Zechs Merquise/Milliardo Peacecraft also voiced most of the Tau units in DoW (Stealth Teams, Fire Warriors, Pathfinders, Broadside Battlesuits, Crisis Battlesuits, Devilfish Troop Carriers, Skyray Missile Gunships, Drone Harbingers and Hammerhead Gunships) which might have ironically been on of the best voice casting choices of the game. Going from doing japanese mechsuit robots to ALIEN japanese mechsuit robots.

I don't think they use pheromones, as the humans think they do (only in one book about xenos). But they said they found a crystal like organ in the forehead, so my idea is it's radio or microwaves they use instead, as it can be used in space, amplified by tech and would work on air tight suits. Also I have a Idea that it's actually the Void Dragon that have influenced the Tau, and made the Etherals to begin with, as they fit his purpose really well for fighting the warp with, and it was Techpriest that found the Tau in the beginning too, so they could have made some chances based on his wishes to them too.

Scott Fillinger the servers are bugged and it's impossible start a game with friends :/ But... there is a launcher, the Name is "DownOnline" and its a launcher that you can start a game and create a lobby and just play with friends :) check on internet! Ps windows defender Will see the launcher like a virus, dont warry its safe :)

It’s rumored that the Tau ethereals have unusually powerful persuasive abilities. They are the reason for the rapid consolidation and development of the Tau empire, creating the caste system and the “greater good” for which they fight. The abilities of the ethereals are NOT psychic, the tau avoid the warp, they even use a different type of space travel than other factions called “skimming” I think. I haven’t heard of any chaos corrupted tau, which would be hilarious. I think the tau have evolved a biological means of persuasion like pheromones or brain chemistry. I don't know about in ultimate apocalypse but in the base game the broadsides have a special ability where they entrench, they become much stronger but they root themselves. I noticed you weren't using that.

Fire Warriors have 30 inch range with their pulse rifles. Then with the right sept you can boost it by 6’’ and boost it by another 6 with a drone.

Scott Fillinger there are many types of drones. Command link drone, tactical support turret, guardian drone, gun drone, shield drone, marker drone, technical drone, heavy gun drone, sniper drone, etc.

Having some serious FPS issues with UA - when I boot the game and start up, everything is fine and it's running at 120fps (same as my monitor refresh rate), first couple minutes of the game is the same, but as soon as any kind of larger conflict breaks out my framerate is dropping down south of 30fps, sometimes lower than 20fps in bigger fights, but I feel this really shouldn't be happening? Specs are Ryzen 5 quad core, GTX1650, 16gb RAM I've ticked LAA exe, I've told it to run off my dedicated card (though I'm suspicious that it still isn't...!), turned off persistent corpses... But no luck? Can anyone help out?

I have FPS issues with an i9, 2080 and 32gb RAM. It's... more than the engine can really handle, and one must embrace frame issues.

What we really need is a mod that massively improves the graphics. It's so annoying that there are people who refuse to play the game due to the graphics, but even without pandering to them it'd be nice. I mean, since we can't trust the current GW and RE it'll be up to the modders to do it.

When it came out I played it on Nvidia 3D with shutter glasses! Still have them, but they only work with old vacuum tube monitors. lol It's sooooo much better to play an RTS in 3D. I don't understand why people and developers always ignored and still ignore that option. Nvidia still has the 3D option. Devs need to do nearly nothing to make their game compatible. The HUD overlay and the mouse pointer have to be made 3D objects in the foreground. That's all. It looks sooooooo good!

I remember reading about Fire Warrior in a PS2 magazine when I was young. Was so hyped when it finally came out and got my dad to take me into town to buy it. Played the shit out of that game. Absolutely loved it. Unfortunately none of my friends had ever played it or even heard of it. Along with Dawn of War too. Great games!
