When I played against necrons on insane I found there to be a few stages. 1. I push out and lock up or else I get slaughtered. 2. I get to high level units like bane blade and finally manage to push them back a bit. 3. They get the high end tech and once they get past the baneblade I'm dead.

Yeah, the early game push is almost a necessity. As many basilisks as possible without eating into Leman Russes too much is also really great. Extra bunkers and such to hold while teching up to armor, keeping chokepoints, and basically preventing too many of the bad guys from shooting by forcing them through chokes and outranging them with artillery attacking ground outside the FOW.

I'm not very good at managing the command units either. So I keep forgetting to put commissars on the troops and to execute.

@@curseofgladstone4981 That's fair. Getting the infantry commands up means the morale loss is less of an issue. It also means conscript squads are actually effective thanks to the integrated plasma guns in the bunkers. Meatblobs around Strat points near chokepoints work as a holding action prior to getting forts up. Having that anti-heavy infantry stuff up ASAP will slow them down. Basically you're trying to make it to tier 4, then you can build bassy platforms with the fortification upgrades that mean they can keep their frontline stunned. Bunkering also means that armor can take the lead, they'll get stuck behind the HUEG blobs of IG if the inf isn't garrisoned. Protected infantry won't take as many losses and won't require a lot of upkeep so you can bring out the plasma tanks with a few annihilators to target their armor. Pathfinding means a clog is going to mess up both you and the enemy. All the warriors get in each other's way but always ends unblocking you too. Scan and drop close to their base with airborne kasrkins. With vision expanded you can drop in some valks to make more squads. The valks work best when filled with melta infantry to do some serious building damage. That's be the time to drop a bane blade of some kind, try to keep a couple builders repairing it. The BBs work best as roadblocks after ganking whatever defensive structures are up so the counterattack doesn't get to your squishy guys. The bad guys will start turning back but keep up artillery to keep most from recovering and push to tanks.

Command: There are never too many conscripts, the point is to absorb enemy fire and they did just that, Comisar : no sir, they don't need to survive, we just need the bodies and appreciate the extra fortifications.

Amazing video shack! Although i think the AI bugging out a dozen times saved you more than anything xD. It obviously had 0 idea what to do vs that spam on the high building, as well as sitting in its own base getting pummeled by your infantry and not retaliating. Can't wait for the next UA video!

I miss DoW so much! Best game I've ever had was me as Guard vs Tau. There had been zero engagments until the "first and only" engagment. I randomly scanned the battlefield with my HQ and saw my opponent's army on the march. He literally had clicked to move his entire army. They were caught in "forced march". I immediately called in a bombardment from my 3 bassiliks. As he had just clicked and was waiting for his army to reach my gates he didn't even have time to realise his whole force had been decimated by my long 9s! By the time he could react I had a whole force to move in on him. I was at his gates by the time I heard him from the lounge (living) room screaming where did his army go. Haha. I love Basilisks. Had 3 games going at once once. 3 sepearate fields but GM allowed for me to utilise my 6 meter range on my basilisks. Old rules uesd guess range weapons. I shot the third table over. Yeah, I missed but only due to the arrow on the barrage dice and I was only off by like 5 inches!

If you mean float a lot as in having a lot of resources stockpiled that would be because he is playing with the normal unit limit which is very small and frankly it's what saved him here. The Necrons would have out produced him on units within the first 5 minutes of the game if they were not already hitting their own limit, and the Necrons have the slowest unit build of all factions.

M6Teen Playez So Dark Crusade and Soulstorm are stand alones so you don't need the base game. If you can only get one, I recommend Dark Crusade. They go for around 12$ or your counties equivalent.
