Dawn played with the boys while in high school and she had three brothers. She always played tough and wasn't afraid of contact. I loved watching her at UVA and her game translates in any era. She got that DAWG in her!!!

Out of all her abilities, the thing that impressed me the most is at 5' 6" how she would challenge and defeat much bigger girls down in the paint. I'm not just talking about on fast breaks but actually facing them up or with them at her back. I also liked the fact that we wore the same number.

Tough competitor with polished skills, shooting and left and right hand dribbling and driving skills. She was one of the best for the time that she played including internationally with 3 Olympic gold medals. She was very quick and played very smart. I did think that it would be difficult for a player 5 ft 6 to get shots off on the inside like she did with todays taller more athletic bigs in women's NCAA basketball.
