I haven't been a 40-year-old virgin (yet), but I've been one in my 30's. Women say it doesn't matter, but it sure mattered whenever I tried dating. Instant turn-off for women who asked about my experience. It's definitely a red flag past 30. I'm not quite as ignorant as Steve Carell's character (I know what sandbags feel like), but I've never focused on getting laid either. People say it'll happen, but it hasn't so far, and I'm honestly okay if it never does. Sharing my life and starting a family would've been great in an idyllic world, but I don't live in an idyllic world, I live in a sad Canada. I just focus on being a better, stronger man for its own sake, virgin or no.

20:40 "I don't know who Jack Palance is." Then your next movie needs to be City Slickers. It's a very funny movie, you'll love it. Starring Billy Crystal who is amazing, but Jack Palance has a major role in the movie and he's funny too as "Curly". Watch it. Love it. But when you see Jack Palance as Curly, remember this line from this movie about his grandmother looking like Jack Palance, and also, Jack was 14 years older when this movie was made than he was in City Slickers.

Losing my virginity was a very dramatic time in my life. Which I guess makes sense for teenagers. But anyway, here's the story: My first time was in high school, and at the time I thought I had an internet girlfriend (codename: Melody), but she told me that she didn't consider me a boyfriend, which made me mad. We had been friends for years and had been flirty for 1 or 2 of them. So young, angsty, and dumb teenager me, went and dated another girl at school (codename: Fairy). She was rumored to be a slut at school, but I didn't know that when she took my virginity. She just seemed like a cool and nice girl, who I also thought was hot. So anyway, I was so excited about losing my virginity, that I even told Melody about it. We were BFFs at the time and we told each other everything. And oh boy, Melody got furious. She lashed out so hard at me, like I was her actual boyfriend or something. And when I reminded her that she herself said that we were not in a relationship, she said I should've read between the lines. She ignored my calls, blocked me on AIM and Xanga, and just straight up avoided contact. And then I found out she started dating her badminton partner, which I KNEW she had feeling for. So it was definitely over between us. Not only did I lose Melody as a BFF and potential GF, but Fairy also ghosted me. She didn't even talk to me anymore, and got her BFF to tell me that we were just a summer fling and that I'm too good for her. I think she dropped out of school too since I never saw her there again. So yeah, the summer I lost my virginity MEGA sucked for me. And all of the drama outweighs the actual memory of the sex. In the end, I just choose to forget my first time, which I haven't thought about for almost 20 years. I've moved as far away from my hometown and state as possible, and I have an awesome wife and 2 kids now. Life is great.

To all the virgins in the house (and reading the comments, there are plenty of y'all): Don't _ever_ let anyone tell you there's something wrong with you or you need help (unless you want it for yourself, of course). I could write a book about why to wait for sex with someone you love. The first chapter would be called, "Exploring as committed virgins is glorious!" The last chapter would be called, "Why to stay single for your entire life." Inbetween would be a shaken snowglobe of good, bad, fun, horrid, compromises, revenge, shocks, sadness, sheer joy, and every nuanced emotion inbetween. I am 63, 10 years out of a 32-year wonderful marriage that ended because, well, just because & it wasn't my choice. Now, I have zero desire to ever be intimate with anyone again. I don't have to share the remote, ask where they want to have dinner, get yelled at, "Are you _still_ on the computer?!" or even share my covers. I'm just an old fuddy-duddy now and I love it. My life has never been so much fun, so bright, so joyful as it is right now. Whoever you are, virgins or not... your life is yours to do with what you want. Have a blast!

Yes Steve didn't believe there was anyway to "fake" that so he insisted on legit getting waxed. The actress playing the cosmotologist claimed she knew how to do it properly but actually lied to get the part. It became evident when she did his nipple. You're supposed to put some vaseline on it otherwise you can actually rip it off. She didnt know that, one of the producers did thankfully and stopped her just in time saving Steve.

The scene with Kevin Hart is one of my favorite scenes of the whole movie! As someone who is almost 35 and still a virgin, I can easily relate to this movie. When I was in high school, nobody wanted to date me. After I graduated I told myself it would happen when it happens. But as I got older, I became less and less interested in sex and relationships in general. Some people just aren't interested in sex or relationships, and there's nothing wrong with that. That's why they had Andy in this movie be so childish and naive...no, we can be normal average responsible adults who just never seen labia. I tell women now just so they will leave me alone because after so many years alone and being rejected romantically you get how this plays out and want to skip to the end. It always works. They act like they don't care and it's not a big deal but slowly stop talking to you. Works every time.

Do to drugs and circumstance, I had lots of sex in college. But that was over 20 years ago and I haven't had sex since. And it hasn't been close. No girlfriends. No dates. No nothing. So I'm aware that it if weren't for college, I could be in the same boat. There's an instinct to hold it like a shield. To wear it as a badge of pride. Or a deterrent to embrace the BS that life decided to give you. But I'm telling you, if you ever want to find out what it's like, a good brothel isn't a bad place to hang out. Some fancy ones are basically like the Playboy Mansion, with pools and lounges and drinks and supermodels walking around. And you can just point out as many girls as you want and have them do anything you want (within reason). People will insist that your first time be with someone special, but the time I spent with the redhead and the Czech blond in the grotto... that feels pretty special to me.

(explaining why people have someone sell their stuff on ebay) 'sold on ebay' stores used to be a thing, but there's still a consigner I use for trading cards. I saw a store back in the day but it was usually closed, there was a giant stuffed bear and I thought it was a lazy employee that worked late because I only saw it in passing for a while and didn't pay attention. I don't know those stores fees, but ebay charges 13% if I sell; if Probstein sells a $1000 card for me they only charge 5% total (but it goes up for cheaper cards, they must have a deal with ebay but I don't know it.) I wonder if ebay paid for 'product placement' for having that character have that business and mentioning ebay so much.

Great movie. The scene with the wax is real :) Steve Carell did it for real and swears the all time that's why they all lough :) .The ending scene is a spoof on the movie "Hair" 1979. Fyi the song Believe it is originally from a 80s comedy superhero tv show called The Greatest American Hero It is a great tv show. Fyi The Health Clinic Counselor is Steve Caroll wife I think. . Another movie like this is There is something about Mary

First Time Story: It would have made a great episode of Friends. I was 22. We had to be on the couch because her 14-year-old daughter was in the bedroom. Her gay (male) roommates came home and caught us. We ran into the bedroom and stayed on the floor. while the guys sat in the living room watching "interest specific" adult films and yelling words of encouragement at us through the door during the slow bits.

Seeing this movie now, the way Catherine Keener's character acts in those scenes where she's freaked out or even the one when she lunges for a kiss with the toy boxes behind them; it reminds me too much of this older woman (40 to my 26) i dated who ended up stalking me after I tried to break it off amicably. Gives me flashbacks 😅

I live in Australia and know what an Escalade is (i.e. not an escalator). My understanding is that it is like a model of 4x4 or SUV that Tiger Woods was driving when his wife found out he was cheating and started smashing it up with golf clubs while he was in it, leading to a crash and quite public police involvement. Immortalised by the song "Tiger Woods" by Steel Panther.

31:45 - my 1st time was Sat 18 Mar 1994 - I know the date because I made a point to remember, which wasn’t hard bc it was exactly 1 month before my 15th bday. Everything was pretty standard stuff - in my bed with the girl I dated for most of high school. We’d been together for about 4 months - she was a year older, so she had already had sex with her previous bf. If I recall, we had a Depeche Mode CD in the stereo and my mom was either out late with friends or gone all night - but she wouldn’t have cared anyway - she started putting boxes of condoms in my bathroom drawer when I was with my first gf in 7th grade. She always said that she would prefer me to have them and not need them than to need them and not have them.

Virginity is not a big problem for a woman, but for a man it's a little different. There's a certain judgmental crowd out there who thinks a virgin man is the biggest joke in town. Think about it, this movie wouldn't be near as funny or popular if the virgin was a woman. I was a 25 year old virgin with a lot of personal and emotional issues to overcome. I wasn't really 'trying' to lose my virginity as much as just trying to grow up, break out of a lot of shells, expand my world, and make myself a more self-confident and better person. In high school, I never dated, went to dances, or anything else for that matter. I had few friends, and didn't even TALK to girls, because I didn't know what to say to them, and they usually either ignored me or made fun of me. I figured getting together with a woman was something that was just not going to happen for me, so I gave up. Since I wasn't getting anywhere with girls, I was labeled a closet gay. That opinion about me continued for years until I was 25. When I DID have sex, all that negative shit disappeared, and my disapproving crowd had to go find somebody else to make fun of. As far as my 'first time', I was 25 as I said, and was working on ice figure skating moves, as that was my expanding interest at the time. A woman was there, also 25, who didn't skate very well, and we got to talking about skating moves. She was married, but said her husband was older than her, and wasn't as interested in sex as her. I was a little uncomfortable getting cozy with a married woman, but she seemed to be very interested in me, and I asked her to come over to my place, which she said 'yes' to. To make a long story short, we ended up doing it. She told me she didn't really like the feel of condoms, so she let me decide if I wanted to use one. I went without one, didn't even tell her I was a virgin, and when I went down on her orally, I ended up giving her an orgasm that drove her right up the wall. She even told me I was fantastic. She mounted me, but I only lasted about a minute inside her. Afterward, I didn't feel like 'more of a man', or anything like that. It was an enjoyable experience, but I still hadn't experienced love. The only thing that changed were the jerks at work never brought up the subject again.
