I would say that most Americans want a ceasefire and for Palestine to finally get the state they were promised - but we don't have a democracy on this or any other important issue. Unfortunately, most Israelis, 70-80%, according to polls, support everything Netanyahu is doing to Palestinians in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon - they support genocide. That is damn sad. They have democracy and majority rule for Israelis (not for Palestinians) but have chosen evil. Many U.S. Jews oppose Israel's horrors, including many current outspoken Jews like Max Blumenthal, Aaron Mate and Norm Finkelstein. Some famous ones like Albert Einstein opposed the creation of Israel. But they don't have any say. I am not at all convinced that Anthony Blinken and others in the Biden administration want a ceasefire - maybe short one so they can stay in power - but not a permanent one and not a Palestinian state. They are actively abetting Israel's terrible violence, with billions of dollars, bombs and intelligence. Those who don't want a ceasefire are likely after the big gas/oil find under Gaza and offshore of Gaza, and to create a corridor for the east/west New Silk Road through Israel by exterminating the Palestinians. Another damn sad reality.
