I've watched this exactly twice. An unknown number of years ago, and tonight. I never realized just how insane this is. The term beyond parody is frequently used to express the ridiculousness of the world we live in, but I can't think of a better term. This is so far above and beyond what any parody can hope to be, and is truly exceptional. Yes, that's a better term. This exceeds parody. You somehow managed to tell an interesting story with more than just funny asides and in jokes in the context of a parody, without losing sight of what the parody actually was. There was genuine fear and sadness and pain in this video. This was simply a passion project that ballooned into a beautiful creation. Looking back on what was accomplished in the short time of the dominance of MLP is truly incredible. Dawn, I don't know if you're still there reading this, but thank you. It would be a shame to let such a passionate heart fade away, and for all of our sake, I hope that it's still in there, even after all this inactivity.

One of the most brilliant things about this series are also the most low-key; such as the implied jokes and unattached characterization… such as that, as Mac points out, there’s no means for Rarity to know he and Twilight hooked up unless she told Rarity… which given Rarity didn’t know the context of how, implies Twilight probably dropped the factoid offhandedly with feigned casualness (probably in response to Rarity’s constant needling about her lack of love life), and intentionally chose to leave out the details of “how/why” since it’s diminish its efficacy as a humblebrag XD

Rewatching this and I'm not sure if I've got something new or if it's been brought up already. The old bear that Twilight had linked a lot of young memories to her parents because that's the toy they gave her. When Celestia took Twilight away, she replaced that toy with Ms. Buzzy, but because Twilight was so young, she kinda blurred the lines between the two and eventually Ms. Buzzy took over and actually replaced the bear (Flashes between the two in the present box) because it was the toy she had currently. Celestia obviously mad with some ridiculously abstract reason knows the connection Twilight has with the toy and decides to try her hardest to fuck with Twilight, thus cutting her toy open and stuffing it with bread.
