Jan 25, 2024 will be 10 years sober, my lil brother passed away one year ago today, he partied like a rockstar on Christmas, I believe he passed from his drinking, he had high blood pressure and refused to take his meds, he drank a whole lot, his first marriage failed, his second marriage almost failed. I sent him this song right before he passed, all he could say is that is a good song, I asked him if he considered going to rehab, he said he was thinking about it, well he died of a brain aneurysm, brain dead and left behind three small kids and a wife. :(

Last night I drank my last drop of alcohol. After finishing more than half a bottle of Tequila and it didn’t get me drunk so I kept going and my son woke up and found me in the living room with the bottle and told me “mom you’re an alcoholic” and that stung. I am currently an addict I have been drinking since I was 9 I am trying to battle but it is hard. I do drink to escape just like all alcoholics. I never want to deal with myself and my issues from my past I drink to forget. I hope all of you who drink to excess will take me as a person to talk to or just remember that no matter how hard it is WE will get better as long as we try our hardest and seek some help I am currently in counseling and it has helped a lot I have very bad mental conditions and never wanna deal with it. I lost my husband of 20 years to alcoholism last December and every bit of this song was him except for the part of no one taking care of him. I took care of him for the whole 15 years that he drank until there was almost nothing left of me. I lost myself in trying to help him and he said "thank you" by looking me in the eyes as he put a gun up to his head and pulled the trigger. My heart goes out to any and everyone who struggles with this addiction and to those who love someone who is struggling.

This song was the last thing my sister ever posted on Facebook. She related so strongly with this song. She was an alcoholic, ,it destroyed her over the years, until finally her body gave up and she passed away. RIP Josey, you've left a huge hole in everyone who knew you. The pain of losing her is just too much to bare. 28 is much too young to die. 😔 Alcohol is the devil.
