@dmjdmj5 жыл бұрын
Kill a prostitute and find out.
@gmun22485 жыл бұрын
In my experience, it's when people (strangers) recognize you - probably to the point they will talk to you. Either about [whatever you're 'famous' for] or the: "You're Dax Shepherd, aren't you?" Which is a totally common and frequent thing people say, but also really really dumb in normal conversation. I do know someone who used to constantly get people who'd say: "It's you, isn't it?" To which he'd always reply, "Yeah, it is me." This particular person is a friend of a friend and *is* globally famous, and I do think that exchange is hilarious. (He always keeps it going: "But it's *really YOU* - yeah?" Yeah, it's really me. "And you're YOU." Yup, I'm me. Etc.) But speaking from personal experience with a person I know very well - a family member - who is 'very famous' in certain circles & in a specific location (globally, & then even more specifically within that country); I always found it very weird to be with this person when people just start talking to them. E.g. They met them once, like a decade ago, at a fundraiser [or ...?] and - if someone is 'famous' to that person within that situation, they're always going to remember it. To me, it's very weird they can speak about it as if they expect the 'famous person' to remember a conversation. (I don't even assume people I met a decade ago will remember me.) Also in that scenario, I'd say when someone really is 'famous' they are so used to this happening that they can have an entire conversation with that person and make them feel like they actually *do* know exactly what/where/when they are talking about. Or a conversation about [topic/area they are 'famous' in]. Then that person goes away & can say, "I just had an entire conversation with *DAX SHEPHERD* about Idiocracy!" / "I talked computers with *BILL GATES* yesterday!" / "I had an amazing conversation with [sports player] about [game I was at] when they won [whatever]!" Sure, there are people like, e.g. Obama, or Oprah, or Pink, or Leonard di Caprio etc. whose fame crosses almost all boundaries; but I would say if you needed one actual definition, it would be recognition. And I do think that's when something is just out of your control, like they say here. (And sorry for all the '___' - but I really intended to mark my own experience/ definition. They *were* all deliberate... unsure if that's now an explanation or confession!)
