Ruth loved her mother in law and trusted her dedication to YHWH. She had to have seen God working through Naomi's life to have such faith. I see how God blessed Ruth for her faith and heart. He delivered them safely back to Bethlehem and He connected them with just the perfect fields and people at just perfect times. It grew Naomi and Ruth's faith and helped them lean into and rely on Him even more for His hand to cover them in blessings. He is always working... every detail of every moment of our lives. We may not see it at the moment it's happening, but when we pause and reflect, we can see it! ❤ He's where the joy is.

God is Lord of the Happy Happenstance. Ruth 2:3 says “And as it happened” (NLT), or “And it was her hap” (KJV) that Ruth found herself in Boaz’s field. “Hap,” “happen,” and “happy” all come from the same Middle English term for luck or fortune, but God is clearly the Master of events: the famine, the loss of Naomi’s sons, and Ruth “just so happening” to end up in Naomi’s redeemer’s field. See how God builds happiness on the foundation of loss and tragedy (Ruth 1:13 minces no words: “God Himself raised His fist against me.”) May we “live happily ever after,” knowing that God brings happiness from His orchestration of happenstance.

I love this story. There is no coincidences in our lives. God is in our lives through it all. As the video story stated, the story started it out with tragedy and death of the men in Naomi’s family, but ended up with joy and birth; restoration of Naomi. This is our lives too. Without Jesus, it is eternal tragedy and spiritual death. With Jesus, we have restoration through spiritual birth and eternal joy into His kingdom. Today is my 65th birthday and Good Friday. All I have is a hallelujah and raised hands for my Lord and Savior for each blessed day He gives to me. 🙏🏽🖖🏽 Live long and prosper everyone.

I loved seeing the hand of God working to bring all this about. Even though Naomi thought God was against her, he was actually working to bless her, Ruth, and Boaz. Knowing that this happened in the time of the Judges, which was increasingly dark, makes it even more special. Even then there were people who had not fallen away from God. Praise the Lord!

Ruth could have moved on and started fresh, but she chose to stay with her mother-in-law. Boaz decided to marry Ruth, knowing he'd be carrying on another man's legacy, not his own. Both showed incredible kindness and sacrifice, and in doing so, God worked behind the scenes to create a beautiful story of redemption. It reminds me of Matthew 16:25: ‘Whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it.’ This story had me all in my feelings! 🥹 I was so moved by the compassion and kindness Ruth and Boaz showed. And how amazing is it that Boaz’s mom is Rahab, the Canaanite prostitute? The child Ruth and Boaz have leads to King David and, most importantly, to Jesus. 🥹 God truly welcomes everyone into His family, and His redemption echoes through every generation.

In the recap, TLC said "every detail was orchestrated for her good,". This, after the lady in the last chapter of Judges was assaulted, raped, Left for dead and chopped into 12 pieces . But Ruth replied, Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Ruth 1:16 NIV So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he made love to her, the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son. The women living there said, “Naomi has a son!” And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David. Ruth 4:13, 17 NIV

Lastly, I would rather have the songs "Mad World" from Tears For Fears, "Losing My Religion" from REM, "Careless Whisper" or "One More Try from George Michael rolling around in my head than any songs from Shania Twain, even if it's "From this momenton" any time or day. At the end of chapter 4, especially verses 16-17, we see Naomi taking Obed and caring for him as his nurse. Does this mean possibly Ruth died in childbirth? Am I assuming too much there? Do we ever hear about Ruth after this? Just a curious thought I had. Also, our firstborn daughter is named Naomi 💗 I sure love this story!

I would like to add that Rahab was probably not Boaz's immediate mother. Genealogies often skipped names or shortened the genealogies and used the more pronounced name in the family. And father in Hebrew did not necessarily mean direct dad but also grandfather, great grandfather, etc. Same for the females. While it is possible if each father had the child in their 100s, it wasn't likely.
@lightbloom9869 ай бұрын
Thank you for this reminder. I was going to ask the channel why Ruth wasn't read earlier in the judges as chronologically it appeared Boaz would have been born in the early days of Judges if Rahab and Salmon were his parents. What you've mentioned could be a valid reason as to why other commentary and Bible teachers think it was nearer the end of the judges period. Still it appears it will not be clear until we see Jesus in heaven 🙏
@kurlikew9547 ай бұрын
My Bible (NIV) doesn't say Ruth called God Yahweh; she just says that Naomi's God will be her God. This has happened in other books as well, that the name of God is not distinguished. I feel like I'm missing part of the story by not having this. :(

The commentaries you mention concerning Ruth uncovering Boaz's feet are disturbing. I learned that she placed the corner of his garment with ztitzit over herself as a request to come under his protection. The tzitzit (tassels) represented his authority under God. In a similar way, the bleeding woman touched Yeshua's tzitzit in faith, believing in His authority to heal. (Numbers 15:37-39) The rabbis teach that God instructed the men to wear tassels to remind them to be true to Him and sexually moral as they would see them away as they walked, perhaps seeing a pretty young woman on their way. Similarly, circumcision reminds a man that this part of his body is set apart for holy matrimony and not other sex.
