Dan is talking about the "once in a lifetime" capital gains exclusion for the sale of the primary residence in the United States. That tax law was repealed many years ago and replaced with $250K exclusion ($500K for married couple) of capital gains every 2 years (must live in the property as primary residence for 2 years in the last 5 years).
