You make me laugh because your "mistakes" are actually wonderful sounding. That's actually great improvisation that makes great trumpet players so unique. Turn a "mistake" into something beautiful like a great jazz player. Those aren't mistakes they are musical creations and I'd go with it. Ad lib and improv and keep going it's perfect as it is. You'll soon realize how special it is and part of your individual character. Don't let the score control you, you make it do what you want it to do. Feel it!

youre doing great and youre still so young, you can go places if you keep enjoying the process! Don't punish yourself, mistakes are a sure part of the process. What makes the great players great is having made more mistakes than worse players.

thanks a lot really! i think i might have tonguing problems as well, as i think im using like my jaw to tongue instead of my actual tongue. if that makes sense lol. anyways ty for this, good luck on your playing!

So, at my school there are two jazz bands, an audition based one, and a free for anyone based one. Is that similar at yours?

yeah spot on except ive got 3. junior jazz is just grade 9s only and anyone can join, tbh stageband is an audition based one, and blues alley is another audition based one. junior is easiest, tbh is more advanced, and blues-alley is most advanced
